I have the Ceiner conversion kit and have never heard of, or experienced any barrel life issues. Shooting low speed lead vs shooting high speed jacketed ammo should be a no brainer. Imagine how many .22LR rounds have been down the rifles made in the 40's and 50's. Haven't heard of any of them wearing out.

Conclusion: I love my .22 AR kit and will be shooting it for a long time.

I have the CMMG and it works fine. If there are barrel issues it is that the barrel will last longer shooting puny 22LR.

Get the CMMG kit if you are going to get one. Did you get the link I sent you with the 150 dollar one? CMMG has great customer service.

Never heard of any barrel life issues. I dont know why .22 would have any other effect on the barrel other than making it last longer. I probably have 1500 rounds through mine with no issues what so ever. I have a Ceiner kit by the way.

I got a Tactical Solutions M4 dedicated upper. It has a 16" 1:16 twist barrel and comes with 1 Black Dog magazine. It's more expensive ($530 - on sale @ BDM for $499) than a conversion kit, but not dealing with a gas tube or o-rings and incorrect twist rate is great. I consistantly shoot <1/2" groups @ 25 yards ironsighted w/ bulk ammo.

I've emptied a 50 Cal ammo can of Walmart copper plated 22LR in 8 months with my Ciener conversion. My friend has put over 10,000 lead rounds through his. Both of us have chrome lined 1:9 barrels. Neither of us has had a problem that cleaning and lubrication didn't solve. I can only get 5 or 6 inch groups at 50 yards. I was hoping for half that but I just shoot it at the pistol range now with my Eotech and have a great time. My only regret is that I only have 1 Black Dog magazine. If you want to have fun shooting close range get it. If you are a more serious target shooter save up for a dedicated upper.

Another big thumbs up for the CMMG kit. Got mine from Joe about a month ago, and it is truly awesome.

Only down side is the mags are hard to load. They need the little side assist bars like the Colt .22 mags have.
