I shoot bullseye and am looking for a competitive target .22 pistol. I have been scoping the internet for about a month and am looking at the Hammerli Trailside Target and Ruger Target Competition.

Do any competitive shooters have experience with these guns? Specifically Hammerli users, does this gun shoot similiar to previous models, ie 280, 230, 232? I would like to purchase one. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I do bullseye shooting, and i use a cheapo $200 ruger mkII target. It shoots as well and sometimes even better that other more expensive pistols. My recomendation is find yourself a nice MKII or MKIII 6 7/8 inch bbl get the volquertsen accurizing kit for it and just live happily. the rest of $ you are gonna save go and buy ammo and practice :biglol:

I was just talking this past weekend to a bullseye shooter who has owned a fair number of bonafide high class .22s. He has gotten rid of them all, including his Russion and Italian pistols. He shoots with Ruger MKIIs. Even though he is 70 I won't shoot against him.

I like to handfit a Marvel trigger and install a Volquartsen sear into a MKII. Do a good fluff and buff on all internal friction points and you have a a great shooting pistol.

I had a blued Ruger MkII 5 1/2" bull barrel I shot in competition against the Bureau of Prisons for a number of years. I liked it but then sold it to a friend and bought a stainless MkII 6 7/8 slab side Competition model. A little extra sight radius for my 58 yr. old eyes sure did help. My first match with that gun earned me a first place trophy and the highest score of all the match categories. It sure is sweet. I also have my eye on a fluted MkIII 6 7/8 stainless with hi-viz sights but am watching my money right now.

You can't go wrong with either of these autos.
