Theres nothing wrong with being prepared and buying as you go but please for the love of god don't go off the deep end and get into debt just because you need 5 pallets of ammo and a $10,000 security door, etc....Look at all those poor fools and doom-sayers that sold everything and moved into the middle of nowhere worrying about the world ending on Y2K.

Now, now, I wouldn't call TN the middle nowhere.

Oil fields once considered dry have oddly refilled with the stuff.

This phenomenon isn't that the oil fields were "dry" so to speak. As oil gets used up they pump the well with water and other things to force the oil out. This process is expensive. Texas still has oil, but oil prices have to be high enough to justify spending the money to get it out. The same issue is in effect when it comes to harvesting oil sands and oil shale. If we can discover a cost effective way to separate the oil from the rocks and sand we will have enough oil for years to come, not to mention hopefully the price of oil will rise just high enough for people to start seriously investing in alternative fuels, building charging stations for electric cars and upgrading the power grid.
