Sig P226 - What to look for

I have an opportunity to buy a used Sig p226 from a guy who is offering it, three high cap mags, and night sights for $650. I'm wondering if it's a good price or would something have to be wrong for it to be that cheap with all the extras. What should I look for in terms of wear and tear?

Just sounds like a fair deal really. P-series Sigs aren't very hard to find used for around that price... Just a guess, but I Bet a lot of guys don't realize how heavy they actually are to carry day in day out... and eventually let them go. New one's go for around $750 w/o NS or an extra mag so if you're into Sigs I'd say go for it, but there are better deals out there.

Just field strip it and look it over looking for clues on how it was cared for: any signs of rust anywhere? is it lubed in the right places? do all the controls work smoothly? see any signs of weird uneven wear or peening? does it look like anyone monkey'd around with the springs or internals? any scratches or oddities in the barrel? does the trigger feel right, and reset properly?

Sigs are high quality pieces, see if it looks like it was cared for as such.

They're built real solidly so if it looks ok it'll most likely hold up for decades to come.

I have heard this quite a bit From what I have seen a Glock 17 weighs about 5 ounces less than a P226. I don't think you will notice 5 ounces much, but I haven't been carrying long.

Those prices on J&G look pretty damn good. If I hadn't just bought a 17 I would have to pick one of those up.
