Gun error in the media

I know this happens hundreds of times a day, but this one made me chuckle:

http://www.wkrn.com/nashville/news/man-killed-in-east-nashville-shooting/123412.htm

Police believe two men were having a confrontation on Lischey Avenue when one man pulled out a revolver and fired one shot.

Investigators found a casing on the sidewalk.

The suspect ran away.

I guess the guy had time to open the cylinder, pull out the empty casing, throw it down, then run away :D

Or he was trying to be sneaky and throw out some brass of the wrong caliber in hopes it would throw off the cops.

Or perhaps he was using one of those "automatic" revolvers:eek:...

And then I saw this in another article

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it a violation for anyone to purchase a firearm for another person like this. Straw purchase?

No, not really. You can buy one as a gift for anyone who isnt prohibited.

As for the OP: it implies the two are connected but they may not be. The case could have come from a different gun. Or he could have dumped all the cases and they only recovered one. Or the writer doesnt know a revolver from a ham sandwich. Take your pick.
