I got run out of a store today

I've been going to the "Super Pawn" here in Athens for years, today after I was done shopping I was told by the employee that the owner "didn't want anyone carrying guns in his business" and for me to leave it in my car from now on.

Now this dipstick (the owner) owns 5 of these pawn shops here in eastern Tennessee. I feel it is my duty to make sure all of us that carry know we are not welcome in his business.

I was nice and polite and told the employee that while I respect the owners wishes I won't be back.

The sad part is the employee has his HCP and is no longer allowed to carry his either.

I thought all pawn brokers carried

well I spent about 18 months working in a pawn shop, carried every day and I did not have a HCP.

I just want to make sure everyone knows that you can't fix stupid.:(

I know the place though don't frequent it often, It reminds me of WD's Sporting Goods on Alcoa Hwy. They have a small but nice shop, offer carry classes but have a sign on the door that say's no loaded guns. I am willing to give these guys the benefit of the doubt that their insurance requires this but how can you offer carry classes if you are posted ?

+1!! GOOD 4 U..Glad to hear about your pleasantness too!!! goes a long way to having people realize that we're the GG's...no need to wear a parka simply to "hide" your right.

No crime to OC....let's just simply put that place on the LIST and NEVER step foot in the place AND maybe give him a ring to remind him politely that he's now on our list...POWER in NUMBERS if we stick to our guns!!

PS; Does anyone know if the Sportsman's Warehouse in Chattanooga is OK?? I think there a great store BUT I won't go in if there posted>>PROMISE!>>>I know we can email them if required.

How many people are signed up on this site?? We need to find emails/surveys for all the places on the list and remind them that we won't be doing business with them.

Here is one that I recall reading about on a post>>EMAIL time!

I've been there a bunch too and I've never seen a sign.

Sportsmans Whse is not posted. I carry in there weekly, but not open.

They do have a sign about checking guns brought into the store, but that has to do more with long guns. Don't want any confusion about whose gun you are carrying back out.

They actually have a rather extensively worded sign: something to the effect that HCP carry is fine as long as it remains holstered, and that all other guns must be unloaded, maybe checked in or something, can't remember about that part.

Was just there 3 weeks ago and that same sign has been there for the last couple years.

It's on the second set of doors as you go in, best I remember.

I pop in there about once a month when I'm down there. Always ogle at the pawn shop by Airport Rd. too. The biker bar next door seems to have closed down.

Also, speaking of 'Nooga posting, there are NO signs on the Brainerd levee greeenway, either direction. I walked all the way to the Camp Jordan loop, and no signs there, but didn't go around the loop to check it out.

FYI...on most cellular carriers you can put a *67 in front of the number to block your number from being delivered.;)

That phone number is from Dayton, Tennessee. I wonder what pawn shop he owns in the Dayton and Chattanooga areas?

My understanding was that didn't apply to HCP holders, more of an issue with people coming in the store with loaded rifles or pistols to have issues checked out or to try and trade.

Now back to the previous topic.

Any way to really let this guy know how much business he is loosing?

Again, he may not have a choice. If you don't wanna go there again, fine. But do you want to really form a posse and put him out of business, take food from his family? Staying concealed would have prevented this. A pawn shop in OR has a sign, I just obey it. It's his right whether I agree with it or not. Just my opinion. Just like some gun stores, you can have it, just keep it out of sight.

So you disarm or just conceal there in OR?
