When to employ a BUG

And the downside to that is when the DA asserts, what were you doing with all that ammo, which is more than an LE carries? You were looking for a fight!

We're in Tennessee, isn't "cuz he needed shootin" a legitimate defense? If not I think I should rethink my legal strategy.

For the space and weight, it's arguable that a couple of spare mags would be more useable, faster into action (or at least more effective), and provide more shots than a BUG.

IF the choice came down between a spare mag and a BUG, iI'd take the spare mag every time... but would take both if a valid option.

I depends on the situation. The BUG isn't a replacement for a magazine. It's a replacement for a gun that has quit functioning, or a weapon you can get to in case you can't use the primary for whatever reason. I'll take the BUG over a spare mag myself if I'm just going to carry one but not the other.

But I have been known to go into some urban situations with four spare magazines (66 rounds total) plus a BUG with a spare magazine for it too. You just have to use some common sense.

But since you chances of actually being in a gun fight are extremely low it won't be an issue.

I would probably respond to that guy with this..."since you were there, I'll let you tell it."

and actually I've seen LEOs' carry 3 to 4 mags...

I only carry 2 extra
