I have had a slew of guns in my life and always wanted a 1911. I know some purists would say this is not because of the external extractor but I couldn't ignore first hand reviews. Can't wait to shoot it!

We'll see soon. I thought the trigger felt pretty good but, let's feed it some ammo.

I have a S&W 1911, it's one of several 1911s I own.

I have had zero problems with it. It has been a workhorse.

The external extractor isn't really an issue for me, Now as for the rail on a 1911 .....

Congrats, nice pistola.

The Smith uses an external pinned extractor in place of the internal design of the original.

Congrads on your purchase.

Unlike Kimber, S&W seems to have gotten the external extractor thing right.

Pouring buckets today but Sunday looks good. I have a few guns that need to be shot, but this one is a must do.

This gun rocks! Took it out to shoot today and was totally impressed. I have never owned a 1911 but shot a ton of them in my lifetime. None I've shot compared to this. I was just shooting offhand at 25 ft. First shot took out the center and then proceeded to completely shoot out the entire center of the target with 3 magazines. Trigger was very smooth and crisp with nice letoff. Functioned flawlessly.

Just one problem though...My wife shot it. She has never shot a 1911 in her life. She loved it! She did the same doing her best at taking the center out of the target. She has insisted that she now have her own 1911. Guess I can't argue with that.

Good for you - that's a fine firearm. As an S&W owner, my 1911 Pro makes most anything else I shoot look/feel stupid/cheap... I stand by that, too, and I am comparing against Kimber, the higher-line Springfields (even the TRP), and guns of that nature. Don't get me wrong, I love my 1911 Springfield, but my S&W Pro is THE best that I've got. I'll never sell it, ever.
