25ACP Breech Plug Conversion

Has anyone tried one of the 25acp breech plug conversions? Seems like they would work pretty good. You use a primed 25acp case in the breech plug instead of the 209. I get pretty meticulous about removing/cleaning the breech plug and it gets rank pretty fast with the 209's and small flash hole. I don't know how you can make a TC Omega much more accurate but they claim the conversion not only is cleaner but improves accuracy. Just wondered if anyone has any experience with it before I spent the money?

Just FYI. I went to the Thompson Center store at their factory. Of course they absolutely don't recommend them. They did say however they purchased and tested them extensively with no added benefits. Go figure. And I thought they would recommend them? They gave a high approval for the Blackhorn 209 powder though. Extremely clean burning and non corrosive. Even can eliminate swabbing between shots.

I was so depressed I didn't get my answer I had to buy a S&W 1911 while I was there. So thanks for the help guys.

My Dad, Brother and I have been playing with the Blackhorn. One thing we have found is to use the black saboted Shockwaves. They are harder to load, but improve accuracy a bit. T/C came out with the Superglide (yellow) sabot after the Omega was released. Just made it easier to load.

My Brother shot a 3 shot group MOA ~2" at 200yds. If I had not seen it, I would not believe it. He was shooting 120 gr- the max for Blackhorn. My gun likes 110. Dad has an older style Encore and he would shoot 200 gr. if he could, so shoots 120 fairly well.

Be sure to use a regular 209 primer and not a ML 209 with the Blackhorn.

No swabbing- although after 10 or so shots, it gets a little tougher to load, but not as bad as Pyrodex or T7 after a couple. Cleans up easily with Hoppe's 9 or others.

I may have to give it a try then. After BP season it's time to start playing with some loads. I have been taking the easy way out and using pellets with superglides. It's fast and easy and to this point has worked fine. These BP rifles are incredibly accurate! Shooting those groups at 200 doesn't surprise me at all.
