Ok.. I have a rifle for sale on another forum.. I am asking 3000.00 for it and at that.. is a good price.. I am selling it to buy another at the same price. Here is where the help is needed.. I am not a that savy when it comes to the pistol market all that much.. for I really don't pay that much attention to it.. my thing is rifles..

Well a fellow member on the other board.. has offered an STI Edge built by Dawson Precision in 40cal.. says that he has a lot of extras to go with it. He wants to give me the pistol and 1000.00 boot for my rifle..

Here is the question.. I am not sure yet as to what all the extras are.. but I am pretty sure that is all that one would need to shoot USPSA matches prob in "Limited" class.. My worry is.. if I were to accept this offer.. would I be ok in doing it? Would I be able to recover the other 2K buy turning it around and selling it? Do you think that it would take a long time to get it sold? I have not seen pics yet and as I have said.. not sure what all the extras are..

Good advice would be greatly appreciated.

Depending what mags etc. had with it 2k is not a bad price. You can check out Dawson Precision and see what gun runs new. Mags are a big thing I have about $100 in each of my 7 mags so this is a big help to know. Round count and any mods to gun will change your group of shooters that are interested. New plain STI mags are $60 each and tuned pretty mags go up to $150 each.

You can check out Brian Enos's Forums... Maku mozo! (Powered by Invision Power Board) to get a better idea its a big USPSA shooter site. Depending what all was included and more info on gun history I or someone I know may be interested. Hope that helps some

Frog, I would say trade, keep the STI and shoot USPSA. Leave the dark side and it's long guns and come toward the light. Remember a rifle is just a waste of five pistol barrels.

LOL at BigJ.. With the way my left knee is, I doubt that I will be doing that ... I tell you what.. If you want.. you can buy it from me.. I really want to buy another Barnard. You know that I really am a rifle shooter.. I appreciate the responses.. but I need to know hard facts.

As a pistol guy, my advice would be to get on the Internet and do some research. See what (if at all) these are going for, and how long it takes them to sell. That'll give you an idea of how easy/hard it is to sell.

If you are only looking to flip it once you make the deal, I would say to hold off and just get some cash. If you're wanting $3000, it's better to just ask for a cash only deal vs having $1000 and being stuck with a pistol you don't want, and having to go through the trouble of trying to sell it. I'm sure there's a buyer out there for that particular pistol, but you gotta find him/her.

Here's a picture of what it probably looks like:

If you do decide to go through with the trade, get an accurate round count through the gun, etc. According to Dawson's website, a new .40 S&W DP Super Tuned Edge goes for $2200. If it's in new/like new condition that may be an ok deal. But then you have to turn around and sell it. Why not ask the guy to sell it himself for $2000 and then buy your rifle?

Mr. Hatmaker.. that is what I have posed to him.. I even told him that if he really wants the rifle.. I would take a deposit.. I told him that I feel in the best interests for both of us.. that it would be best to sell his pistol.. then hook up with me to do a cash transaction.
