I've got a spa package that my dear husband bought for me a while back for the Gould's day spa there. Anyone know if they are posted? I really don't want to drive downtown and deal with all those vagrant crackheads if I am unarmed.

I've never seen a sign. Your hotel room is like your house in TN. You don't even need a permit to keep a loaded handgun, rifle, or shotgun in a hotel room in Tennessee. I'd carry either way and not worry about it. You're paying quite a bit of money. I've never seen metal detectors at a hotel and my bags searched like at the airport. Don't call the Peabody and ask permission...much easier to tell no one. It is really not the hotel's business when you are renting a room. Conceal and enjoy your stay at the Peabody.

Ummm...where does the law say that. I haven't come across anything in the TN code that allows that. I would be happy to be wrong, but please post the TN to prove me wrong.

It is often postulated that:

" 39-17-1308. Defenses to unlawful possession or carrying of a weapon. —

(a) It is a defense to the application of § 39-17-1307 if the possession or carrying was:...

(3) At the person's:

(A) Place of residence;

(:) Place of business; or

© Premises; "

can be construed to mean that a hotel/motel room, a motor home, even a tent while camping, is considered your "place of residence".

IANAL,

Good discussion....but I don't think she was going to be staying at the motel, just visiting the spa that happens to be within the motel.

The Peabody Motel. That's a new one!

The building and the spa were not posted. The spa provides you with a locker, lock, and key for your valuables so everything worked out wonderfully. The service was excellent. Thanks guys for trying to help me figure this one out.

The Peabody is posted - the posting is done via gold-plated plaques at the two main entrances. Verbage is correct. No gun with the circle-slash (it is my understanding that symbol is NOT necessary for the sign to hold legal weight, though.).

The side entrance for the bell-boy's to load luggage into the cars of guests who are departing was not posted, as of today at about 2pm.
