I am using Unique gunpowder and have been reloading FMJ and now I want to use lead bullets. The Problem is I cant find recipes for the use of unique with lead bullets. I have Modern Reloading book and have looked at uniques web site and can not find anything.

Should I change my powder or is there some info some where that I am missing.

I already have 100 122gr 9mm bullets lead bullets but Im going to buy some 125gr or 147gr at a later date.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The older Lyman manuals I have list a max of 5.3 grains with a 124 grain bullet. Hornady lists 5.1 grains with the 124 and Speer lists 4.5 with there swaged lead bullet. If you are looking to match your jacketed bullet loads, I would not be a afraid to use the same charge behind a lead bullet. I have found that most loading manuals list lighter loads for lead bullets to keep velocities down to curb leading. If you use a properly cast lead bullet there is no reason not to load the same load. Get a chronograph to check velocities and use a good bullet.

I have loaded 38spl/357 120 to 168 gr. cast and jacketed. Both light and heavy loads with bullseye, accurate#2, hp-38 and unquice(sp). Follow guidelines, they shoot great.

5 grains of Unique with 122 and 124 grain round nose 9mm lead bullets is a very tried and true load. Almost as common as apple pie and ice cream. It provides enough power to cycle, well below the sammi threshold of any manual published in the past 75 years, doesn't lead if 15+ hardness bullets are used, fills the case well, and shoots pretty good to top it off.

GREAT for plinking, easy to remember, and cheap.

The downside is that it is a very dirty combo.
