It's a stolen gun with an attempt to obliterate a serial number and they don't know that you are still the owner, if they ever knew. Duh! (as you say)

I see your store of logical arguments has run out.

I think the discussion is over.

Anyone wanting to buy a Taurus will get a pretty decent gun at a good price. But hope like heck you never need parts or service for it.

More broadly, this is something valuable people get by buying one brand over another and it is seldom appreciated. A company like Smith&Wesson, Ruger, or SIG (to name 3 I have had direct and indirect experience with) will back up their products no matter what and deliver a superior level of customer service. That is worth something and usually you pay for it.

A company like Taurus or Paraordnance (to name 2 I've had direct experience with) will not. Usually the customer will never notice unless he needs a part or service. When he does, that's about the time it sinks in why the competing brand costs 20% more.

Well Rabbi, as you say, I guess the discussion is over. If you can't see why you would need to send the paperwork I probably can't help you understand.

Well just for fun, why dont you 'splain it to me.

If you can't understand it now, you won't be able to later, Ricky.

Translation: No, I can't explain it in a way that might pass the laugh test.

Thanks, Mars.

Rabbi

I have been sitting on the sidelines following this thread, and I can hold my tongue no longer.

1. I am sorry that your business has been broken into several times.

I am also sorry that you are not able to get proper insurance to safeguard yourself against these types of losses.

2. While I agree that Taurus is known in the industry for taking their sweet-ass time when dealing with customer service requests, I dont see how you can blame them for your problems.

Your place was robbed. That sucks.

A Taurus was stolen and then recovered. Cool! you got the gun back!

The recovered Taurus has damage. Hey, at least you got it back.

You contact Taurus, expecting them to repair or replace the gun for free. ARE YOU INSANE?

I am 100% in favor of manufactures and distributors doing what they can to help the dealer carry their product, and hopefully make money.

I am amazed that you would actually expect (and get pissed when they dont) Taurus to be left holding the bag here.

Your point that "they are bigger than me, so they can afford it" is complete and utter BS.

I think that your attempt to flame Taurus and make them out to be a-holes has done nothing but make you look like a tool.

I think you should request that this thread be locked, and hope that it goes away.

Its the only way you are going to NOT look like the chump in this case.

**If you cant get insurance because of your location, perhaps you should think about MOVING!

Good luck, and let me know if you find some manufactures that are willing to trade me my used, broken, or cosmetically challenged guns for brand new ones so I can get in on some of that action!!!!

You obviously didnt read any of my comments on the thread. I would go through and explain to you how companies that offer superior customer service generally beat companies that don't. But I wouldnt expect you to understand that either.

And no, my shop has not been broken into "several times."

And since the retail gun business is a customer relations business you might want to re-examine your attitudes and knowledge base on this so you can give accurate valuable advice to your customers.

Oh, I read every single whining word. :blah::blah::blah::blah:

I think I am pretty up to speed on the whole "...customer relations....customer service..." thing (based on the feedback I get from my many happy customers) but thanks for the advice.

I would offer the same advice to you, but im sure you already know everything there is to know about this industry. :P

I think this was the explanation for needing to send them the paper work. It is pretty simple. I think my daughter could follow it, but I will have to ask her when she wakes up from her nap.:P

Of course that doesnt really stand up. When you send a gun back for warranty work do you send back your sales receipt to show you are the actual owner? What if you bought the gun on private sale?

In this case I bought it from the distributor, and they know where they shipped the gun.

Not that any of that would matter since the serial number on the frame was untouched (as mentioned in my previous post).

But ask you daughter about it.:P

And of course people who steal guns regularly send them back to the manufacturer for cosmetic work.:blah::rolleyes:

evidence that was stolen from the police

How does one go about stealing evidence from the police? Especially a gun, it is near impossible to get it back from evidence as it is.
