Re: Heckler and Koch, Inc. vs. German Sport Guns GmbH, American Tactical Imports,

Inc. Civil Action No. 1 : 09-cv-00039-WTL-JMS (S.D. Indiana)

For immediate release,

We are very pleased to report that the litigation filed by Heckler & Koch, Inc. against

German Sport Guns GmbH and its U.S. distributor, American Tactical Imports, Inc.,

together with all counterclaims, has been settled.

The terms of the settlement are confidential to the parties and cannot be disclosed. A

dismissal of the above-referenced litigation, and all of the party’s claims against each

other, is expected to be filed in the near future.

Attorneys for H&K will be issuing a statement. The attorneys for ATI have already

issued a statement announcing the settlement.

Production and importation of the original design GSG-5 ceased as of Oct, 8, 2009 with

the signing of the agreement. The remaining inventory now in the USA can be sold by

ATI, all distributors and dealers. ATI currently has GSG-5’s in stock.

All sales of the GSG-5 by ATI must conclude by January 31, 2010. ATI will continue to

service every firearm that it imports into the USA.

Thank you for your support.

Anthony DiChario

President C.E.O.

American Tactical Imports, Inc.

I remember reading on TFB that Umarex was to be releasing several HK-branded tacticool .22LR's in the near future... I wonder if that is behind all of this.

Interesting, I've actually been wanting one of those. I figured this would happen sooner or later.

Thanks for the heads up

Not to stir up the poo, but why would you want one? Seriously, I don't get it.
I've wanted one too.

I like the looks of them, and the fact it would be a very affordable to shoot "fun gun".

What he said ^

I guess where I'm coming from is that I shot an MP5 when I was a police officer, and, (understanding that I've never shot one of these), I would think shooting one of these would be like having sex without the orgasm.

The MP5 is my favorite "fun gun" of the metallic kind. I wish I were rich to hunt one down and acquire it.

I have shot an MP5 myself. Really enjoyed it and was very impressed. It will be a long time before I can afford a semi MP5 9mm... much less a full auto one. So this is pretty much the closest I can come without borrowing one.

I hear ya. I know a guy on my Shelby forum that has a gun room you wouldn't believe. The picture that he posted of the room looked like it was as big as my livingroom. It was stuffed with guns of all sorts, and I mean display quality. The said that he had several MP5's but the butt-hole wouldn't part with one.

Lets see, your "fun gun" costs around 15k for one that you actually own, not a PD gun that the tax payers own. You will spend around $10 for 50 rounds to shoot it. If you go the semi route then you will spend $1200 for a clone or $3500-$4000 for an HK94. You can get a GSG-5 for around $400-$450. I can see why people wound want one. I have both (a 9mm and a GSG) and the .22 gets shot just as much if not more than the 9mm. I can see the logic in buying a GSG. :poop:

Where I was a police officer we purchased our own weapons, uniforms, leather, etc, so the taxpayer didn't own squat. The officer who bought the MP5 that I shot spent nowhere near $15k: however, this was around 1992 that he bought it. If I recall it was under $2k, (gotta love Bush Sr.).

If I were rich enough to own one then I wouldn't be concerned with how much it cost to shoot it. That would be like buying a Lamborghini and complaining about how much it cost for gas and insurance.

I wish I could get a few of the GSGs. Not one to be had from a distributor. :D

Well if it makes you feel better, HK is going to be producing them soon. Of course I'm sure it will come with the new improved HK price. They are also going to make .22 versions of the P7 and the 416.

You may also need to consider before you buy a GSG, it appears that they aren't going to honor any of their warranties, or sell spare parts in the US.

All in all, I'd still love to have one.

It says in the letter that they will continue to service the GSG. They are also selling spare parts kits for little to nothing, and will continue to do so.

H&K: "...because you suck, and we hate you"

so true. and now i'm wondering if i should get one for fun rather than a new upper for an ar build...

Man this sucks. I was planning to get a GSG-5PK next year. I guess that's not gonna happen now. I certainly don't have the money to buy one today even if I could find one around here. Just my luck.

A dealer friend of the family, who's hooked up with them, got news from ATI that they will discontinue the gsg-5 in present form, but they are going to make some changes to the design, maybe change the name, and start producing them again. May be improved, may be a shadow of its former self, may be about the same, but its not going away completely.

GSG5's are a blast to shoot.

I had one for a while but sold it and picked up another AK.

If you have the extra $500 for a .22, then by all means go get one, they are a riot.
