Cellphone Question (Verizon Network)

I just got an LG enV Touch VX11000 that does WAY more than any phone I've ever had. I've heard there are sites where you can get free music and other media, but I don't remember what they are. Any help? Also, I'm looking for productivity tools, and free is good. Thanks!

I also have the LG enV but not the touch mine is an older version...yet only one year old?

It is also more phone than I have ever had or needed. I got it because it doubles as an MP-3 player. They have a software package at Verizon that will let you get the music from your computer to your phone.

Also I suggest that you sign into Verizonwireless.com and set up an account.....You may can find some stuff there.

As for the free music sites....Believe it or not I will have to ask the kids as I have no idea.;)

You can get free ringtones from myxer.com

It allows you you pick the part of any song you want and use it as a tone.

Just use Windows Media Player to rip CD's you already own to .MP3 format. Get a 2gb microSD ram card, format it in the phone, then use a card reader attached to your PC to copy the .mp3 files into the appropriate folder on the card. Can't remember the name of the folder, but it is created automatically by the format, and it was pretty obvious.

There is also another folder on the card for ringtones. Just copy .mp3 files in there to use as free ringtones. You can download a nifty (and free) program called Audacity that will let you chop out segments of the .mp3 to make a 30 second ringtone. You don't need a whole 3 minute song, when the phone goes to VM after 30 seconds. Just be sure to save teh 30 second clip as an .MP3.

I signed up for the Internet and email feature. I think it was only another $10. I can get my Yahoo, Comcast, and Gmail email sent directly to the phone. Internet browsing takes some getting used to, but it's not unbearable. I don't use it for TGO, but for getting news and weather, it's OK. I've heard there's a hack that you can do to it where you connect the phone to a PC with the USB cable that is on the charger, and the phone becomes a broadband modem. Internet on your PC, thru your phone. It may void your warranty though.

I love the phone! Battery life could be better, and it annoys me that the ring speaker is under the flip so it's difficult to hear. But, it does so many other things, it's amazing.

Yeah, I've got an 8gb card, and got my music on that way......I'll have to look for audacity.....that sounds like something i've been lookin for. I'd like to do that hack, but I'm thinking about taking it in to have checked out anyhow.

Either of you guys have a problem with the clock on the touch screen? I had the banner time and date on the main screen, but somehow it disappeared and is only on the lock screen now. Its aggravating, and I've tried every setting I can think of to get it back.

I'm sure you won't have to look too hard. ;)

So is this one of those new Iphone-style setups?

go to the shortcut screen from the main touch sreen. go to add, then add clock widget. once added use your finger to move it to the top of the screen and it will go to the main screen. hope this helps.

Nope.......didn't bring it back. I tried all of the available types, but nothing visible. Thanks for the help though.

that's odd it worked fine for me

I take it back........you're a genius!

I didn't catch the part about dragging the widget box from the shotcuts window to the top of the screen. It worked fine.......thanks....you saved me a trip to verizon......that would have been almost as bad as going without the clock.
