Lenny's next to work is posted!

My co-worker told me the other day that the Lenny's sub shop right next to where we work is now posted as a no carry zone.

Today he and I went over there and sure enough, there was the stupid sign on the door. They, unlike most other places I have seen actually have a sign that meets the legal criteria for the signage.

Anyway, neither of us was carrying at the time as we were at work( ;) ) but we went in, asked for the manager and when he came over we told him that we had seen the sign and we would gladly follow their wishes. We told him that, as we work next door, we typically eat there a couple of times a week but we wouldn't be doing that anymore and we would be sure to tell all the other people we work with who carry that they are posted. (this could be well over $1000 a week for them with the number of people that work with us who eat there just because of the convenience of the location) Then we both handed him the "NO carry = No $$$" business cards we both carry for just these kind of situations.

I also explained to him that I would be posting this info and the picture of the sign on several internet forums that have many, many members.

He thanked us for being civil about it and said it is the owners call on the sign not his. We told him we understood that and to please pass the info and cards on to the owner and he said he would.

So, one less place to eat but the possibility that we may sway another business to the common sense side with out courteous attitudes and civil tone.

If anyone in the Memphis Tennessee area is interested, the address of this particular Lenny's is:

521 S Highland St

Suite 101

Memphis, TN 38111-4303

It is in the University if Memphis area, right across from the new condo where the couple of abducted from the parking garage and raped and shot this summer and where we had a nut running around the area with a shotgun robbing people and shooting them for no reason last summer. This particular Lenny's is in an area that really makes sense to carry in.

I plan to email Lenny's corporate HQ and ask if this is a company policy or just this one site.

I've always thought those kind of signs are just blanket invitations for criminals, wonder how the staff and owner would feel if I made a comment like that knowing I was a LEO?

Hmmm, Lenny's got some good chicken salad sandwiches. I'm real close to the one at Estate and Southern, by Target. I wonder if that one is corporate owned or individual franchise owned.

would like to see your "No Carry = No $$$" business card, I like that idea.

The ones I have are identical to these except that they have the Tennessee HCP info on the back as opposed to the Missouri permit info as these do..

Free "No Guns, No Money" Cards

I am on my way out the door to work right now but, I will try to post pics of my cards tonight and find a link to where you can get your own....try TFA.com

Good thing I prefer Jersey Mike's!

They have the best roast beef..Unfortunately, they left Memphis.

A new place opened up, Jersey Subs, very similiar has good roast beef, also, found a new place that has great roast beef, Jimmy John's.

Dang, I'm hungry.

It would appear that non alcohol serving businesses are jumping on the same bandwagon together.I guess I dont understand their line of thinking, they did not ban HCP holders before, why now.Its almost like this new law has energized some type of irrational thoughts on their parts. If we were not a problem in the past why would we be a problem now,its almost as if they think that now with a new law we are suddenly going to lose our minds and start shooting,I say the people that think this way are pretty narrow minded and have not collected the real facts. They are all:screwy:

Its just silly that places have gone to this. Makes me feel now that if they wont let me carry,i wont go there period. Especially if they dont do alcohol.

**** a chain deli, anyways. I'd much rather go to some hole in the wall deli where you can feel your heart stopping up as you eat a pastrami on rye.

I haven't noticed any of those signs at the Lenny's in Bartlett....I usually carry a gun....but I don't go looking for signs everywhere I walk either...they have to really stand out for me to notice. I do conceal, so that no one notices me and I just laugh to myself if I miss such a sign. Oh well.....just don't give such a place your business next time. I wouldn't be anywhere in Memphis city limits without a gun....sign or no sign is all I can say...that area around Highland is not the greatest and if I had to go there to meet someone for say work....my gun is on me unless it is at Univ of Memphis property because I don't mess with felony charges...then it is unloaded and in the car.

Yes! Yes! Yes! and no offense but I don't want some teenager making my sub.

I think I tried Lenny's once in Knoxville. It left no impression on me what so ever.

Ali Baba's Time Out Deli on Kingston Pike. Zeke and Zack are sandwich gods! I think they opened when I was 7 and I'm 41 now and they are still there and the place hasn't changed much at all. Talk about comfort food.

Seems to me that since it's a supposed right, then I get a freakin license that I should be able to holster up in the morning and not worry about it all day long. I'm not going to break the law but I AVOID places where I can't carry like the plague they are.

Same posting on the Lenny's on Spottswood (by Target, East Memphis).

Hmmm, well, mark that one off the list. I was in there a couple of weeks ago and didn't see a sign, they must be new. Going over there today to get my hair did...errr umm cut. Might go in.....

Yeah, at the one I referred to, the sign is very subtle. It's a faded almost translucent sticker. Print is incredibly small. As far as the UofM area, true that. Be armed for sure.

Interestingly enough, I noticed that someone with a Lenny's corporate email address registered today. So they are aware of your discontent with this decision to post. Now that you have their attention, maybe they will give some sort of reply. :death:

I certainly hope they do...there are a lot of folks in TN with permits that have gone through extensive background checks to get them.

Also, before the "Guns in bars" law passed...carry in Lenny's went without a hitch for HOW long???

We have been legally carrying in Lenny's for YEARS with no problem...if the "Guns in Bars" B.S. didnt have the publicity, we would not be having this discussion.

I just would like an explaination on the sudden change of heart.

I can't tell you how many times I've carried legally in Lenny's prior to this as well. The problem sort of "fixed" itself though when all of the Lenny's locations in my part of Middle TN went out of business though.

Now we just go to Jersey Mike's. As far as I know, they don't post.
