The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance controls issuing of the Armed and Unarmed Security Guard Licenses. For Unarmed, see: Private Protective Services - Unarmed Security Officer/Guard Requirements

For Armed, see: Private Protective Services - Armed Security Officer/Guard Requirements

There are many trainers out there, but I would recommend you do lots of research and use a trainer that provides indepth instruction. There are good ones and bad ones at both ends of the economical scale. Security Officers have no more powers than any citizen does, so you MUST be thoroughly indoctrinated on the law.

Pretty much everything is done in the class. ASP in Joelton does a good job. If you find a company you want to work for a lot of them do their own as well.
