Been hacked/Fraud IP Address Questions

Ok, believe I have been hacked. I have started getting some phone calls, on my cell phone. Evidently, according to them, I filled out a survey and requested this info, submitted my info to them. One is from "Google Click Money" which they said I requested the DVD, which I got in the mail the same day they called me. That was last week. This week I got a phone call from the "Career Institute" on the info I requested. I ripped "Nathan" a new one, his supervisor got on the phone. She told me to call a different number they could give me the ip address that the survey was done through.

I don't no much about this stuff. I just acted like I did, and needed that info to help with the fraud report/ and stolen identity reports. Anyway called, got this IP address. Don't know what any of this means.

Who is this?

My Ip address is not that one above. Does the IP address change? LIke if I log on today I get one, then the next day I get another one? Or is your account given a certain number and that's it? Can I do anything? Is my computer infected? I ran Malawarebytes, nothing was found, my AVG is and has been on, nothing. Running Adaware right now, so far nothing.

Can I post anything up here from S&D or hijackthis that will let you know what is what? I will PM those results if it would help.

On an unrelated note, I had fraud charges on my CC, I just recently used it, but it was after the Oct 2 date that the survey was done. May or may not be related. I haven't used it in awhile.

Comcast does not provide static IP's, so it will occasionally change.

I can tell you it would not change to that. That is from the GA node of the comcast network, and you (if on comcast) would be on a TN node.

Most likely, someone filled out one of those stupid facebook surveys and made up a number, or scraped your information and used it. Odds are there is nothing on your local machine.

Two days ago I kept getting calls from a number I didn't recognize, so I didn't answer them. A text finally showed up. It was just a picture of George Bush with a caption of "DID YOU MISS ME?" Any of you guys get that one, or was it isolated/local?

It looks like the IP address is a Comcast customer. You are probably going to get zero out of them without a subpoena. And without proof that an actual crime happened, that's not gonna happen either.

Your IP address does indeed change. When you boot your computer, your computer requests an IP address from the network, which is provided by your router or the provider, depending on how you are set up. Your IP address "lease" has a time limit, which varies depending on implementation. Most service providers are going to have a short lease, but your IP address stays the same as long as you are online and don't lose connectivity.

Finally, as far as your hijackthis logs, etc, I doubt anything useful will be in there. But don't let me stop you from posting. After all, I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

I use to never run any virus software until about 12 years ago. Now I wouldn't be without it.

Scan your computer.. use all available online tools too... one will catch what others wont.

trend micro housecall

bitdefender

Ad-aware

spybot

many others.. hell use them all..

Also NEVER have a public IP on your puter.. get behind a gateway or firewall or something.

Good luck!
