TN Performing Arts Center, Nashville CC ...

For the wifes birthday, we'll be traveling down to Nashville (4.5 hours) for a show at the TN Performing Arts Center. I've reviewed their website but don't see any restrictions on CC. Anyone know?

The building is posted on every entrance or at least it was at my daughters' recital in June.

When I went to see Austrilian Pink Floyd, TPAC was posted.

I was there recently... I didn't see any thing except some circle-slash stickers, but I didn't inspect any entrances other than the one I used. There was no, search/pat-down/metal-detector either.

FYI: the top part of the building is a STATE OFFICE. All State offices are no carry areas, and if spotted, you will have your permit in question, as the majority of security for the building is State Trooper supplied...

Do not risk your permit.

Go towards the elevators past the ticket office at the Deaderick Street, this was the original main entrance. You will see a security guard kiosk, with tv monitors. Those guards may not be State Troopers. However, they are backed up by some, who are in the building. (Note: it has been a few years since going into the place - and the kiosk may have been moved... But, it IS a State Office building... last time I was there, daytime to visit the State Museum downstairs, there were 5 Troopers visible in the lobby and at the entrance to the museum...)

State office buildings (or any state buildings) are not automatically off-limits per any law. They must post per 39-17-1359 like any other place not otherwise off-limits by statute.

But even if a state office located within a larger building with several offices, was posted...it wouldn't make the whole building off-limits, unless the etnrances to the building were posted.

how is the area at night?

Area around TPAC is not the best. Lots of dark areas and not as well policed as it might be. It is the main reason I am not a bigger "Patron of the Arts" ( I like plays and concerts but I have not been comfortable in that area at night. Biggest risk seems to be getting to and from the parking areas. Just like I used to be a Sox fan in Chicago but the stadium was a risky adventure.)

Buddy, i've had many of situations where I've seen some silly no gun sign or accidently walked past maybe a legal sign or not legal...who knows...but in most of Memphis (we all know how it is..no need to go there)...and parts of Nashville...I conceal a J frame snub and go about my business. The only way i take it back to my car is if i see metal detectors or if it is SCHOOL property or courtroom type set up (AKA felony zones) in these crime ridden big cities. You do your part of hiding a reasonably small handgun like a snub nosed 38 or a little Ruger or Kel Tec 380...no one will know but you and the Lord....get a good quality pocket holster and enjoy that art center. I've carried just about everywhere in a lot of different states...sometimes accidently misdemeanor...sometimes legal...well hopefully...but moral of the story is concealing well and no one knows unless i'm going through metal detectors. If the worst case happens...well that handgun will probably be used in the parking lot when walking to your car anyway where you'll need it.....but that is me...I place a lot of value on my safety...and carried in TN in my car when i had to go to shady parts of Memphis before getting a license...again i chose safety of my life over the fine.
