It imbues magical properties to the iron and carbon. And it's purty. I was looking to get a barrel jeweled.

Check this out, a charging handle for a 1911, er or anything that has a dovetail rear sight.

Jardine's Custom 1911 Gunsmithing

Nice out of the box thinking.

Why does a 1911 need a fluted barrel?

Need:shrug: , but like any other new product we all seem to want one.

That's awesome! I was just thinking I needed something to both poke in in the side and make the gun less concealable. I think I need two!

Different strokes for different folks.

If you read that page you will see he custom made that for a guy in a wheelchair. This was about function, so the guy could rack the slide with his disabled hand.

It shows great ingenuity and workmanship on the smiths part.

Agreed. Don't understand the negativity on work like this. This is a great idea. Have seen many similar setups for bullseye competition so that one can more easily rack the slide because of the scope getting in the way.

I didn't read it and just jumped to the conclusion that this was just some smith gone crazy. Now that I've made an ass of myself, it's a great idea for someone that's handicapped like that.

Great for those one handed charges. I know you all have been trying this ever since that video made the rounds. Maybe I could do it with one of those...

I've looked at Jardine's in the past - some really cool ideas, and cool guns! I don't need something like that, and while I understand that it's definitely got cool points for folks like us, I doubt that I'd pay for it over a standard match grade barrel, but it is really cool, for that custom one-off look.

Pretty gun, if maybe a little flute happy. Not for this po' boy, but nice work.

I'm surprised none of the major manufacturers has offered a version of that slide charging handle. I could see it being very popular with those who have strength/grip issues, such as ladies or elderly persons, etc.
