Layfayette Georgia?

Anybody familiar with Lafayette Ga?

We're considering a move there on a sweetheart/friend deal almost too good/cheap to pass up.

Google maps shows it 40 min to Chattanooga. Any pitfalls that would make it worse?

Is the area nice?

Looks like there's a nice lake there, Queens lake?

Any input?

Cutting our expenses drastically and doing a friend a favor would be great, but not if the place is a pit.

Lafayette is nice. The pace of life is slow. Don't plan on finding a high paying job there unless you have connections. I have customers there and it is a friendly place. I am assuming you are from Cleveland, TN, not GA. If you know what Dayton is like, Lafayette is that way where everyone knows you, but on a much smaller scale. Big change from Cleveland! The outling areas with a lot of land and being removed from town are really nice.

Thanks.

Not sure yet how it will work out, but I was hoping somebody was familiar. We won't have a chance to look around til the weekend.

The biggest wrinkle is the wife's job. She should be able to transfer from her job in Cleveland to Chatt, but it's unknown when, so her commute might be an issue.

Ehhh, not too good to be true, just better than the situation we have now maybe. A friend/coworker of my wife has a house sitting vacant she's willing to rent slightly below market, with no upfront, etc, and it sounds like a nice place. We're WAY overpaying on a place I got into in a hurry when I moved to Cleveland from Knox to be close to my job (that layed me off anyway), so the savings would help us get financially stable again more quickly.

I've got some friends that live down Rocksprings\Lafayette area.

Its nice, and quite down there with not much going on.

They do have a Wally World, but not much else though.

Trips to Chattanooga aren't really necessary with Fort O a few minutes away.

Not sure how often you get to Fort O,but its really exploded here in the last couple years.Home Depot,Lowes, plenty of shopping, fast food, and sit down restaurants.

Hwy 151 runs down the back side of Lafayette so you're not to far away from Ringgold, and 75.

Head over the mountain and you've got Cloudland Canyon,Trenton, and interstate 59.

I agree with Strickj. I live in East Ridge and i go to Fort O instead of downtown or Hamilton Place.

Although i do have a buddy who just moved from North GA bach to Chat b/c of the taxes.
