Can you "touch" it before committing? Oly was known to have some tolerance and quality control issues a few years back. I would make sure I could drop in a trigger kit and the pivot and take down pins matched up well. Other than that I own a Oly produced but "other" AR maker named receiver that has worked VERY well.

If you hang your upper on it and it rattles, it's probably mil spec:D

I honestly don't have a clue if there would be much of a difference if any in a mil spec lower vs a non mil spec. I have hung Rock River, Yankee Hill, Kotonics, White Oak Armament and a custom made upper on my Oly forged and they all matched up with little or no slop so that's all I cared about.

Maybe Joe or some of the other tech proficient folks will wander by and have the details.

Olympic has been infamous for QC issues in the past, so I'd say you'd be lucky if it fell into ANY spec :bowrofl:

If the price is right, I'd say why not.

I *think* the buffer tubes are milspec on Olys, but I kind of doubt the barrel is built to milspec, and I'd go all-in betting the BCG isn't.

Well, I thought I closed on the deal, but he wanted to have more cash than trade. Unfortunately, this deal won't happen, but it seems the market will soon flood with the overproduction and other people dumping. Thanks for the help.

I did find a few things about Olympic Arms, though. I called today and the receivers are made in America. The internals are CAST by their own factories in California. According to Thom @ OLY, even the best manufacturers have oversees parts, which are still good, but they don't have them manufactured themselves. He said that Oly takes pride to have a true American production rifle. The website is helpful to see which receivers are cast and which are forged.
