I keep some S&B .357sig on-hand... not for plinking though, it's for penetration. I plan to stock up more to use as SHTF ammo.

140gr at 1350fps isn't anything to sneeze at, it's loaded pretty hot, and has functioned flawlessly so far in my XD. I also like the fact that the crimp and primer are sealed. Haven't had any issues with it gumming up the works, but so far I haven't found any ammo that would choke the XD anyways.

S&B is cheap, about the only thing cheaper is Wolf and factory reloads... Some guns don't like Wolf.

I assume that this is the ammo you were shooting?

Speer 124+P+ Gold Dot gdhp

there bonded hp's and do very well in my xd9 service

+p+?

I wasn't aware that Speer loaded the 124gr in +p+... Is that LE surplus or something?

I wonder if ballistics are comperable to the Double-Tap loads using that bullet?

I can tell you it has nothing to do with the coating S&B uses, I cant imagine what gunsmith would say that. What probably is happening is that the case is expanding due to the usually higher pressures S&B uses, they are known to use a hotter load than most. I would have the chamber and the extracter checked, by a reputable smith. could be a problem with either.

For 9mm use the heaviest bonded bullet you can get, and go fast as your pistol will allow.

It is the steel case...I called Smith and Wesson...they get alot of calls about it. apparantley, the Sigma only likes brass...either way, I got some TN cartridge reloads, runs like a champ again...no issues 500rds:koolaid:

I like the Speer Gold Dot 9mm +P 124 gr for my Glock 19. It is pretty standard with the NYPD and they seem to have had good results. For practice, i just get whatever is cheap, such as the CCI Blazers or Winchester White box FMJ ammo. The 9mm is great because it is cheap for a centerfire handgun to practice with.

I shoot cheap target mostly, though I like American Eagle 124 FMJ, seems to group better in my CZ (might be a placebo effect). For defense, right now I have hydrashocks in my 9mm snub, they fit the moonclip best. I've had cheap target stuff not want to stay in the moonclips and actually get the cylinder stuck. Never had a problem with Winchester or hydrashocks. I bought a box of Buffalo Bore +P+ (yes, +P+) from The Rabbi and shot a few in the snub. That was several months ago. The feeling is starting to come back into my wrists. For the CZ defense loads I've used hydrashocks and Speer gold dot.

I've always prefered hydroshocks in my 9mms (124gr.).

Another vote for the HST rounds. I prefer the 147g, but also have some 124g +P that I would use in a ccw. The entire HST line in all available calibers has some very impressive numbers on paper. It will be interesting to see how they fair in real shootings the longer they are out there on the street.
