I have a Ruger P90 in .45 ACP. I need load data for 230 grain FMJ, Win. LP primer. I ran out of Unique powder. I have a bottle of Bullseye powder. I went to Alliant's web site. Their load data is 5.7 grains of Bullseye and the col at 1.260. I have the Speer #13 manual. Their load data is 5.2-5.7 max, col at 1.206. I think I will start at 5.0 grains of Bulleyes. I'm assuming that the 1.206" COL from the Speer manual is a misprint. That is very short for a 230gr. FMJ. My Lyman manual shows 3.8-5.3gr. of Bullseye for a 230gr.TMJ with a COL of 1.275". My Sierra manual shows 4.0-5.2gr. of Bullseye for a 230gr.FMJ with a COAL of 1.270"

5.0gr. of Bullseye under a 230gr. FMJ at a COL of 1.260" is a fairly stiff load(it should be safe, but still fairly stiff). I'd recommend starting with around 4.8gr. or a little less at 1.260" and working up from there. Or at least increase the COL to 1.270" if you want to start with 5.0gr. of Bullseye. From everything I've seen, 5.0gr. of Bullseye under a 230gr. FMJ at a COL of 1.265-1.275" should probably be pretty close to the original GI .45 ACP load.

My bad on the Speer #13 load manual. COL is 1.260. I going to load up 8 rounds with 5.0 grains of Bullseye and shoot them thru my Ruger. If they shoot great, then I will load up the 500 230 grain FMJ I have left. I really like Unique. That is all about I have ever used. I have been reloading for my .45 since 2002. Bought my Ruger P90TH new Dec. 2001 at the Bill Goodman show. I really like it. I liked the Ruger so much, I bought a Ruger P89 in 2005. It is agreat pistol too. Thanks, gearyr

You can't go wrong with Unique or Bullseye for the .45 ACP. They are probably the two most popular powders for that caliber, and have been for many years.
