Wilson Combat Spec-Ops 9

Per chance, anybody on here shot/handled the new Wilson Combat Spec-Ops 9mm?

I've been waiting for a commander-sized SA 1911-style poly framed 9mm for forever it seems as I like the idea of a lightweight hi-cap 9 blessed with a 1911's trigger, but the price-tag ($1995.00) seems over-inflated for a polymer gun.

I have a Wilson CQB and know firsthand that their prices are partially based on hype... great pieces, but not 600% better than an RIA tactical for example, which is what it cost... Wondering if this thing is worth picking up and paying the Wilson-tax again for, or if you guys think it'll just get discontinued due to it's price-point (not sure how many takers there are out there for a $2K poly 9mm...)?

My only experience with a Wilson was not favorable. It was a polymer .45, can't remember the model, a Commander size... it was a serious jam-o-matic. I wouldn't do this, for the combo of price and the bad example I had.

Probably was a KZ which I think they've since discontinued... I've seen them on gunbroker for around $1500 in .45 as well as 9 which is easier to swallow, but most of the reviews I've been able to dig up haven't exactly been favorable...

In my opinion..Wilson Combat products, though good, are drastically overpriced, and NOT worth price charged. Ive shot a couple of their 1911's,they didnt do one damn thing better, including accuracy, that my other 1911's could do. Kinda like buying a Harley Davidson...youll pay $5000 or more just for the name. Ill pass on both.

It'd have to be pretty nice to be worth the price tag... can't say I wouldn't prefer an XD-M (which is lighter, can carry more rounds, and probably just as accurate), and a couple cases of 9mm, for half the price...

But, I've paid too much for stuff in the past myself... so I can't blame anybody for wanting what they want, if this is 'it' for you, more power to ya.

I would expect this model to not be very popular, since Wilson Combat probably didn't intend for it to be... considering the price point. It'll fill a niche though, kinda like the modular polymer framed STI 1911s (which are also expensive).

At least they didn't chamber it in .45GAP...

I've been reading about this pistol and can't wait to see one in person. After I handle one I might change my mind as far as it being worth it or not. Being into 1911's causes the rational thinking part of my brain to not work, so I better be careful when looking at these...

It would be nice to see how it stacks up against some NIB 9mm's. I wouldn't(can't either) spend thrice as much $ for twice the accuracy. But if it shoots the pants off of a Glock34, you can bet it will be a big hit with the competitive shooters. I predict long waits and price scalping. Of course I also predicted reimportation of Chinese firearms....

The thing about "name" guns like these always get a pass when they hiccup, at least with the .45's at least... For me to get this one I'll have to see some pretty glowing reviews...

According to the email I got from Wilson the KZ45 was actually discontinued rechambered in 9mm and the Spec-ops 9 was the result.

Last time I called Guns and Leather they had one and well under 2K. Might want to give them a ring.
