All I could dig up was this thread from almost 2 years ago, and the laws on carrying in places that serve booze have been changed since then, so it wasnt much help,

That is funny, I was just thinking about that question today.

I don't know the answer, but I will be down town Saturday night, I'll have to take a walk by there and see if they are posted or not.

Considering they pat ya down before you go in... good luck with that.

I have personally gotten past several pat-downs while armed, I can't recommend it though, unless you are prepared to be expelled, at least.

Shooting while in a crowd (can't be clear of your backstop), isn't a matter to be taken lightly. I only bring mine for the walk to and from, really.

But posted... I never saw a 'legal' sign. No Firearms is in the little notice for prohibited activites though.

Carry in and Contraband Items

The following items are not permitted in Sommet Center:

Bottles or cans

Food and drink purchased outside

Coolers

Frisbees and/or beach balls

Laser pointers

Any noise making devices, specifically air horns with sirens, whistles

Fireworks

Illegal drugs and alcohol

Weapons and dangerous devices of any type

Guests found in possession of contraband items will be subject to expulsion from the facility and the contraband items confiscated.

Firearms / Weapons

Guests are prohibited from bringing weapons into Sommet Center.

That is from the policies section on their web site. I don't know if they are actually posted though.

Thats really what I'm wanting it for. Too bad they dont have a gun check!

I've been wondering this myself. The only sign I've seen states what SureShot posted from their website, except for the last sentence. The sign states "No dangerous devices" but says nothing specific about firearms. It's above the doors inside the entrance way.

For the hockey games, they do not pat you down. They do check purses and bags, but in three seasons of hockey I have yet to see anyone patted down or scanned with a metal detector. Concerts, fights, or other events may be handled differently, though.

I was there Saturday for the Dane Cook show and they were not posted. They didn't check on the way in either. I left mine to be on the safe side, but I could have carried all night and no one would have ever known. I don't know if there are certain events that they check or not.

Come on guys, lets at least be considering at least some of the right questions here.

At least, not whether there is posting or not, but whether carry is illegal at the Sommet Center. Personally, I would consider it illegal.

It really does not matter what you personally consider. What makes it legal or illegal is if it is posted. I have not been there in the past few months, but I have carried there several times before. There were no signs upon entry and no pat-down. my advice is just keep it concealed and rock-on, unless of course there are signs on entry.

Dats82, please reread the statutes dealing with handgun carry and think. Of course it doesn't matter what I personally consider, but at least I am not completely fixated on posting, which is not the only factor in determining if carry is legal. Let me ask you this, can you legally carry at the Belcourt Theatre?
