*MTSU ABDUCTION CRIME ALERT**

On Monday, October 8, 2007, a female advised that earlier today around 2:00 P.M.

while she was walking in the Fairview Parking Lot, a white male approached her

and grabbed her by the arm and advised her to come with him. The suspect left

the area when more people began to come into the area. The suspect was last seen

headed West in the Fairview Parking Lot.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early to mid 40s with dark brown

hair in a bowl cut. He is approximately 5'7" to 5'8" tall with an average build.

He has pale skin, wears glasses, and has several days worth of facial hair

growth. The suspect was last seen wearing blue jeans and a green T-shirt.

Anyone with information about this subject or this incident should call the MTSU

Police Department at 898-2424.

the purse snatching was a friend of my neighbor, the BG punched her in the back of the head as she was trying to enter her dorm and took her purse and ran off.

A female resident was assaulted outside one of the dorms here at ETSU over the weekend as well. It wasn't the full moon this weekend, what's with all the loonies coming out at once?

From: UT Police

Subject: Attempted robbery in Fort Sanders this morning

The Knoxville Police Department is currently investigating an attempted

robbery that occurred today at about 12:45 a.m. off campus in Fort

Sanders at Renaissance II apartments on Highland Avenue.

The victim, a UT student, told police he opened the door of his

residence to let a friend inside when an unknown man burst through the

door, waved a gun and demanded money. The victim said he didn't have any

money, and the suspect left.

The victim described the suspect as a male of unknown race about 6 feet

3 inches tall and 250 pounds. He was wearing black pants, a black

hoodie, black gloves and black hosiery over his face.

Several robberies recently have been reported near campus, and one

robbery has been reported this fall on UT property.

While the incident today did not occur on campus, this and other e-mail

notifications are intended to raise awareness about criminal activity

near UT property and in areas frequented by faculty, staff and students.

I almost just don't even give a rats flying frisbee about these so called campus alerts and whatnot. I signed up for MTSU's text message alert system (y'know the greatest thing since the police put "to protect" and serve in their mantra and bread came in plastic bags already divided into thin pieces) and they sent out a test message to see how the system worked in conjunction with an email almost 3 weeks ago and I have yet to receive the text. Better luck next time?

And another thing (preaching to the choir can I get an Amen?) just how many more incidents need occur before people (the pinko commie faculty and students) start to pony up to the idea that personal safety starts with themselves and their surroundings? not the rules that insulate the bubble of ignorance?

The hallowed halls of academia are no place for violence, and with the no-gun policies in place, you can rest assured that you are safe to study. Of course, anyone who believes that needs to pull their heads out of their rear-ends - it's far too dark up there to read their textbooks.

I tell you, I am surprised that they got this guy. Then again I am not surprised that this tool was back lurking the MTSU campus. I am thankful that some alert student recognized this guy from that ridiculous sketch photo.

****UPDATE***

The man who approached and grabbed the arm of a female MTSU student in the

Fairview parking lot on Oct. 8th, was apprehended today (Nov. 1st) shortly after

noon and taken into custody. The suspect, Larry Christianson, 44 years of age,

was spotted near the same general area by a student who, after recognizing him

from the police sketch, notified the MTSU Police. The man was later positively

identified by the student who initially reported the Oct. 8th incident. The

suspect, who is not an MTSU student, was charged with assault and taken to the

Rutherford County Jail.

Subject: Carjacking incident in Fort Sanders last night

The Knoxville Police and UT Police departments are investigating an

armed robbery and carjacking incident that occurred Wednesday night at

around 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Forest Avenue and 21st

Street.

The first victim, a UT student, reported that an unidentified male

approached on foot while he was entering his car. The suspect was armed

with a knife and attempted to take the student's car. The student

engaged the suspect and received minor cuts. The suspect was unable to

take the victim's car. The victim described his assailant as a white

male, about 5'10" and about 180 pounds. He had brown hair in a crew cut

and was wearing black sweat pants and a black sweat shirt.

A second victim, also a UT student, reported that a suspect matching the

same description then approached her in her vehicle and proceeded to

take her car. The second victim was not injured.

This morning, KPD recovered the vehicle, which was in possession of a

person other than the suspect. That person, who was arrested for

possession of stolen property, stated that he purchased the car from the

suspect.

Murfreesboro is going to continue to get worse with their rapid expansion. Just wait a couple more years for the yuppies to completly overrun downtown Nashville. We are already seeing this is now in Antioch, being such a nice place to live and all. The thugs and whatnot have to live somewhere and they are being forced from downtown so that leaves the country or the suburbs.

To: Knoxville Area UT Students, Faculty and Staff

From: UT Police

Subject: Two crime incidents off campus Sunday night

The Knoxville Police and UT Police departments are investigating an

attempted armed robbery in Fort Sanders and an armed robbery in

Sutherland Village Apartments Sunday night.

One incident happened at about 10 p.m. near Bridge Avenue and James Agee

Street in Fort Sanders. A suspect attempted to rob a male UT student at

gunpoint.

The student described the suspect as a black male about 5-foot-8 and 180

pounds with brown hair and a moustache. The student said a white male

with brown hair and sideburns wearing a black hoodie and black toboggan

was standing in the roadway and appeared to accompany the assailant.

The second incident happened at about 11 p.m. at Sutherland Village

Apartments, an off-campus UT property located at 3700 Sutherland Ave.

Three UT students reported they were sitting in an apartment when two

men armed with handguns entered the apartment through an unlocked door.

The suspects stole property from the students. The students were not

injured.

The students described one man as black with a thin moustache and about

6-feet tall and 190 pounds. The second man was white with short brown

hair and a thin beard and about 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds.

Anyone with information concerning these incidents should contact UT

Police at (865) 974-3114 or Knoxville Police at (865) 215-7000.

UT Police urge all members of the campus community to lock their doors

at all times, avoid walking alone at night and to contact them any time

they need assistance or notice anything suspicious.

Finally got my first 'crime alert' MTSU text messages: along with a corresponding email

TEXT MESSAGE:

"Alert: MTSU ALERT: A SERIOUS THREAT has been made against MTSU student in Monohan Hall. Go to www.mtsu.edu/alertupdates for updates."

EMAIL:

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has informed MTSU officials of a potential death threat that has been made against a student living in Monohan Hall. University officials have taken immediate actions to protect the student and to maintain safety on campus.

“We take this situation very seriously and will utilize all our resources to maintain order and safety on this campus,” said President Sidney A. McPhee.

The student, whose identity is being withheld pending further investigation, has been relocated to an off-campus site, the residence hall has been provided with additional security and controlled access, officials are meeting with dorm residents and student supervisory personnel to apprise them of the situation. While this threat was made against one specific student, MTSU police are asking that all campus residents remain vigilant and report any unusual or suspicious behavior by calling 898-2424.

In the interest of keeping everyone informed about the incident Friday evening that prompted a text message to the campus population, you should know that MTSU police are continuing to maintain a presence in and around Monohan Hall and throughout the campus. While there is not much additional information to share with you at this time, suffice it to say that the young man who received the death threat is in the process of being moved off campus. We will continue to monitor this situation and remain in contact with the appropriate federal and local authorities. Let this occurrence be a reminder to all of us as members of the MTSU family that we have an obligation to remain vigilant, watch out for one another, and report any unusual or odd behavior to the MTSU police at 898-2424.

On March 17, 2008, at approximately 2:45 a.m., a female MTSU student was robbed

near Sims Hall when an unidentified male approached her, pointed a dark-colored

handgun at her and asked for her purse and her cell phone.

The victim handed over the items, and the suspect left the area in a 1990s model

Chevrolet Caprice. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6̢۪

tall, slender build with a round face, wearing a white ball cap, a black

sweatshirt and blue jeans. Anyone with information is asked to contact the MTSU

Police Department at 615-898-2424 or Crime Stoppers at 615-893-7867.

On March 18, 2008, MTSU Police identified a possible suspect vehicle in the

armed robbery case that occurred on campus during the early morning hours of

March 17th. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a dark gray colored 2003 Dodge

Neon. At least two suspects (and possibly a third

person) were apparently involved in the incident. After the robbery the suspects

used or attempted to use the victim̢۪s credit card in a number of locations

around or within the city of Murfreesboro including retail stores, convenience

stores, and restaurants.
