Hunter AK and 922r

Howdy all,

I've been reading into the whole 922r compliance thing, and like most of the posts here (and elsewhere) it is all very confusing.

Anyway, I have an old AK hunter that looks like the Norinco and it has (386) symbol for the Chinese factory it was made in. It only says Valley Gun though and has no Norinco marks. I have been thinking of adding some sort of pistol or thumbhole stock. As it is pre 922r (I got it in '92), would 922r still apply if I mod it? My thought is that it would, but hopefully someone that knows better can say "grandfathered." :D

As a second point, does anyone know if the Saiga hunter type furniture would fit on a Norinco hunter?

Thanks

Okay I'll take a stab. Since I'm not an expert and you get what you pay for...my guess is that I agree with you.

I'm thinking the 922r wouldn't apply UNTIL you start modifying it. Had it been bought in that condition prior to the law, then it wouldn't apply. But I can be totally wrong.

I've got no idea if the Saiga furniture will fit.

Sorry, to not be of real help.

If you stick a mag that can hold more than 10 rounds in the gun it MUST be 922r compliant.

IIRC, it is based on the Valient Finnish AK varient and thus, will be a PIA to convert to "standard" AK format (not to mention a bit spendy). Good rifle for what it is.

Not likely the SAIGA parts fit.
