I know a man whose 20 year old son was in a bad auto accident and who lost his right leg about 6" below the knee. He asked me if I knew of any support groups in or around Knoxville that he could take his son to see how others deal with the loss of a limb and that he can still lead an active life.

I didn't know if anyone knew of one locally due to the war. If anyone knows of one, please post it up so I can pass it along. Much obliged.

I would call the local VA and if not call the one in M'boro (York). They usually have

listing to all kinds of support groups.

The people or shops that make prosthetics also usually have a line on this.

Thanks. His son wasn't in the military, but I figured that the support groups would let anyone join. :nervous:

I'm sorry, but a support group for an 6 inch below the knee amputation?

Its not hard to get around unless you're above the knee.

I lost a helluva lot more then that, and never went to some ***** support group.

Best thing that can help him is not to hold his hand, and tell him to man up.Other wise he'll spend the rest of his life crying about loosing a foot.

Sorry I sound insensitive, but I've been there, done that, and seen more then I care from other ******* that couldn't deal with something
