Warm and Fuzzy Gun Show Experience

First I’d like to mention that I have finally acquired the handgun I’ve been pining for over the last several months. My Springfield XD .45 Compact (black) has finally made it’s way onto my hip! I found it at yesterday’s gun show for about $35 less than I had previously arranged with a local guy that was going to have to order it for me. Granted, $35 is a pretty good discount but I did have issues with paying hangtag for a gun at a gun show. I tried my best at haggling with the guy, but he knew what he had and he knew it was a good price so he didn’t budge. I don’t blame him.

Now on to the even more uplifting issue of the day; In the process of searching the rather large arena for this specific pistol I came across a table of miscellaneous hunting / camping gear that a guy was selling and he had a display of waterproof flashlights at the bottom of a bowl filled with water. Obviously this is an eye-catching display that drew a few people over to check in out, but the more interesting display was right behind those flashlights.

He had a stack of Bibles with a small sign on top of them that said, “Free Bible.†This was such a touching and encouraging thing to see at a gun show. I’ve always known the gun crowd to be mostly populated with just good people, but it’s nice to see someone out there using their booth to get the Good News out there. So often we hear the left wing gun haters talk such hateful things about us gun nuts and they never care to mention things like that. I’d bet you’d never see a stack of free Bibles at an EPA “Go Green†event, or the DNC. They’re always so damn busy being politically correct, they wouldn’t dream of putting something so controversial on their table.

So if the man that owned that table is out there reading, or you happen to know the guy, please tell him I said Thanks, and keep up the good work. The world could use a lot more people like you.

I have seen the bibles at a few shows,but not this last one as I was sent to Chattanooga to work for a few days.I believe I remember a few westerns where someone had a bible in one hand and a 45 in the other they seem to go along together and I bet you would see the pair quite often in Iraq and Afghanistan now possibly both in camo.

Yup, that was probably me. Holding hands with my beautiful wife. (She really wants a Baby Eagle) I went all around the place twice looking at every XD in the joint, the only compact (black) was at the table right in front of the entrance/exit. I've been hankerin' for this thing for months and months now! It was a pretty decent price, just wish I had been able to get it for 2006 prices, rather than 2036. The zombies are still peacefully at rest. Oh well.
