I got off the interstate for gas and saw the building for the Great Outdoors Store.

I parked in the lot and opened the front door. There was a large sign "check all guns at front".

I left.

Is the store any good?

Oh yeah, it's a great store. What they mean by that sign is that if you're bringing in a gun to have work done on, to have scoped, to shoot in the range--they want to tag it. Like they do bows at BassPro. That way you can prove that the gun you're carrying around (and eventually attempting to leave with) is YOUR gun. They're not talking about your carry gun. That's my understanding as was told by my buddy who lives in Jackson who is friends with the owner. I believe that member "andersmg" works there too. I go there often when I'm in Jackson.

I have e-mailed the range master, he confirmed that a carry weapon that will not be used on the range or that is not being taken in for service does not have to be unloaded and/or checked.

I have never shot there, but keep thinking I will go someday. Others I have talked to have enjoyed it and said it was a nice place.

I have brought over a .22 to zero a scope and target practice with my Kel-Tec. I showed the firearms when I entered the gun range and had no trouble.

All above are correct. You do not have to check your carry weapon there, only if you are bringing in guns for work or trade.

BTW, I don't work there anymore, I miss it but it was just part time for me while my real job was only 4 days a week, my real job picked up and so I had to quit my fun job.....bummer!

The range is very nice, I have not been to vey many indoor ranges but of the ones I have been to this one is as nice as any and nicer than some.

They usually have a pretty good choice of weapons and their prices and pretty good from what I have seen.

I have had the pleasure of shooting at the range. Class operation and the staff are great. I encourage anyone in the Jackson area to check them out. I agree with the above that they do have some good prices.

I used the range one time and thought it was a bit expensive. I think I was there for about 50 minutes and was charged $18.95 plus tax. I did have two guns and two targets on one lane though.
