FFL in Memphis for AR

Hey everyone,

I am thinking about getting an AR or at least a lower and was wondering who is the best FFL in Memphis. I have called around and it seems like $50 is the going rate. $40 for the transfer and $10 for the background check. Are there any cheaper places in the Memphis area?

Thanks

Have you asked range USA?

RangeUSA is $50 (total) - he's looking for something cheaper.

OP, if you go here and enter your zip, you can see a list of local FFL's who do transfers - there are typically a few you'd never know about that do inexpensive transfers if that's what you're wanting...

Range USA has stripped lowers in stock for between $110 -$200 depending on the name brand. Last I looked they had DPMS, Bushmaster and a couple of others...

I was thinking more along the lines of a complete lower. Maybe a Bravo Company lower then once I saved up more money I could get the upper. I did see the stripped lowers they had at Range USA but I dont know if I want to build my own like that. Being my first AR I would probably rather buy my first and learn how to use them then build one up. Of course I am always open to ideas.

Thanks

I promise you that you could build your own lower. Once you do, you will be shocked at how easy it was.

Sorry to bump an old thread but Arms Fair in Cordova charges 25 +10 for a transfer.

Yep, had a great experience there last week. Nice little shop.

Yep, I think Arms Fair is the best priced FFL in Memphis.

Just an FYI...

Security Acadamy and Supply, located 3463 Lamar, is also $35 FFL transfer and they are a range as well. Good guys, I train at this range every week.

Depending on where in the Memphis area you're located, several of the pawn shops that are FFL's will handle transfers for $25 + $10 for the background check. I've used AA Pawn in the Raleigh area just recently, 2830 Austin Peay Hwy (372-8051) and they were very good to deal with. Several others have told me they would handle it for $35, but I haven't used them. If you check around you can definitely do better than $50. Good luck.
