Took my concealed carry class at Guns And Leather

- Hi all -

I recently took my Concealed Carry class at Guns and Leather in Greenbrier.

I had no prior experience with handguns but the class was easy to understand and instructor Lanny Crabtree was pretty funny.

At the range I shot with a 9mm handgun, I found out after I was up there most people use a .22.

Being that I am left-handed, and had no prior experience, it was intimidating but Jeff, their gunsmith, was very helpful and taught me what to do.

I ended up doing very well, shooting a 92% with a Glock 9mm (and a 100 on the written portion but I find it hard to believe anyone would get more than one or two wrong).

CONCEALED carry???? Must suck not having an option.;)

IMO - And truly if one were to miss more than a few, they probably don't have ANY business carrying in the first place.

Just my:2cents:

Hey! I just got on to see if there was any info about the course with regard to people without experience! I've been around fire arms all my life, but never got a permit. My wife has no experience with them, but is going to take the class with me and I was wondering if we needed to go to the range first or if she'd be ok. Sounds like she should be fine. We're even planning on taking the course at Guns and Leather. Thanks so much for posting, and congrats!

hey redleg... yep, I'd bet she'll be fine...the qualifying shoot is stupid easy. if she can't pass, I'd hate to see her carrying a gun anyway... :D

good choice to take it @ G&L... Warren taught my class, and he was great. glad you folks are gonna get your permits!! :2cents:

I took the class in July at G&L and now I have my HCP, the class was taught very well and if your wondering if you or your wife will pass just pay attention in class and focus during the range test. When I took my class there was 2 60+year old woman who had never been around firearms and both passed.... Congrats!!! COOP

Known Mark personally for 20 years. Not only is he a good teacher, and does a good job of trying to make the class interesting with a little humor... his an all around GREAT guy personally. :D

Ha! I think she should do just fine. I got a quick course on how to load and dryfired bf's beretta the morning that I went for my class. Never even held a handgun before that. I missed only one shot and, well, it was below the belt!

I took my class at G-N-L and I had a great experience as well. It was my first time and instructors made me comfortable.

Congrat :) :) :)

my wife and i just took our HCP class at Guns and Leather this past weekend, and i would highly recommend them as well. the class was large (37 people) but ran smoothly. Lanny (i think that's his first name) Crabtree was the instructor and, while the material is very boring, he did a good job presenting it. as everyone says, the test is very easy. i missed one because i'm a moron and overthought one. my wife didn't miss any, and, yes, i'm still hearing about that.

my wife has only shot a pistol 2 or 3 times before, but got 100% on the test (with a gnl-provided .22). Lanny and a man named Joe were very good with anyone that wasn't used to shooting. Joe helped my wife with her grip and gave her some good tips that immediately improved her grouping.

on a side note, i was at another range today, and they had a HCP course in the range while i was there. i got a good comparison to what we just went through yesterday, and i can say i'm glad we took ours where we did (no knock on them).

Me too, got my HCP not too long ago. Best range in the Nashville area for handguns indoor.
