Shipping a firearm in TN?

I may be mailing a gun to another TN resident across the state. I read through the UPS rules on shipping a handgun, and I dont see anything there that would propose a problem. I know it must be sent via UPS Next Day Air®, or UPS Next Day Air Saver® but other than that, and pitfalls to be aware of? UPS: Shipping Firearms

Anyone out there sent a gun person to person via UPS before?

maybe I should print off and bring a copy of the TN code validating person to person transfer of firearms in TN...

UPS accepts packages containing firearms...for transportation from and between...persons not otherwise prohibited from shipping firearms by federal, state or local law...

That couldn't hurt. Maybe they will do it without any troubles.

I've never done it, but I am pretty sure I remember hearing/reading many stories where they refused to ship the firearms for whatever reason(s).

Is that quote from the UPS web site?

Be sure you go to an actual UPS terminal, not a UPS Store. I've tried to ship ammunition through a couple of different UPS Stores, and their store policy will not allow them to do it, even though UPS will.

You can do that with everything except the receiver with the serial number on it. According to the ATF, that piece is technically the 'firearm' and must be declared to the shipper.

Why don't you just box it up and ship it next day air? I have never been asked what is inside my UPS box, and I don't think they will open it to check.
