every stand i have is by a stream, there are 2 or 3 depending on how much it rains...they were flowing so much that i couldn't even hear myself think or hear any noise around unless it was very loud, so i doubt my calls were heard by the deer. i hope next time there will be more action.

I never call this early in the season, but I did hear a deer grunt on Sunday morning. I usually wait for the pre-rut to kick in before I call or rattle or put out any scents.

Opening day was a blast! Beautiful sunshine (when it rose) up on Bear Hollow. Got to position & into my ghillie suit at around 5.30 am. Got winded by 2 nice does at 6.15 & shot clean under a small 6 point at 7.00.

Then the people arrived :( Got busted by a Church group out for a ramble. Gotta love hunting public land! :D

Nice way to start the season! I think most of us spent the day in the rain.

I deal with people walking through the woods where I hunt because of all the apts backing up to it., I just tell them it's hunting season and other hunters are in the woods with a bow or gun. They get the hint that may not be the best place for a nature hike and leave.

This year I'm trying to walk into the woods further down the road where there isn't any trails going in and so far it's helped.. haven't seen anyone, not even other hunters, it's early though.

Nice one man. I would love to get one. They are good eating. Guy at my work kills them all the time and we get to eat it.

I don't see a problem with you showing off your photos :D. I like the photo of the doe eating the water plants.

Interesting hunt yesterday, Sat in treestand all evening saw nothing, looking around and just happened to look in the field where my jeep was parked and deer were all around it. I watched thru bino and watched a nice 6-point lick the side of my jeep. Just my luck I'm in the woods and the deer are out running in the yard.

Saw a doe and a 4 pointer this evening. Too far to drag anything less than trophy quality. The doe ended up spooking and blowing at me. I am still not sure how she winded me, she was upwind the entire time. I guess the wind must have swirled.
