Built the AR...

It all started with the sale at Hero Gear. "I'll just buy the parts, and stick them back until I'm ready to finish it", I said. I guess the upper and stripped lower got friendly while I was at work, because when I got home the next day I had a lower parts kit. "That's strange", I said. Curious to see what would happen, I put the parts kit beside the receivers and went to work again. Sure enough, I came home and somehow found a stock, grip, and buffer tube assembly in my hands. I placed them beside the other parts, and somehow I found myself in Rightwinger's shop on Thursday night with some brass punches and great company.

The results?

Still a few things to get (sling, optics), and I may change the grip, but I'm happy with it.

Thanks!

I put a few rounds through it this evening. A bunch of ARs I've shot like to throw brass back at me (I shoot left handed), including one Colt that hit my right ear muff with every piece of brass it ejected. This one throws the brass almost straight out to the right. :)

Nice looking rifle. I should build my own one day. How'd she shoot?

Thanks! I didn't shoot enough to get a feel for accuracy, hope to remedy that tomorrow. I'll let you know.

Congrats on the AR. Rightwinger was a great help when I built mine.

Thanks. It's always better working on a project with friends, especially when they've done it before. I didn't launch the pivot pin detent off into the wild blue yonder, but having help to hold the pillowcase up so you can see what you're doing is great. :D

I think this AR multiplying thing could be an issue. I'm already looking at stripped lowers again and thinking about a long range paper puncher, or a larger caliber, like the .458 Socom or maybe .50 Beowolf. I doubt that happens anytime soon, though.

Looks great! Congrats ;)

(your sights are on backwards...) :shhh::shhh:;):shhh:

Thanks!

Do what!? Figures. Managed to build the whole lower without spending hours chasing down errant springs, only to put the sights on backwards. :D Win some, lose some...I'll turn them around in the morning. Not to worry, though,I'll be coming by for optics soon and the MBUS should be a non- issue.

Nice AR! Lowers are relatively cheap and plentiful right now. Justify it as a spare for emergency use only. :D

Flipped the sights around, they should be installed correctly now.

I think the next one will be a SBR. I keep looking at this one and thinking the barrel should end about where the rail does.

I just built an AR also and it looks just like yours but in OD green. Nice gun!

I'm back in the world and have to admit those were my first set of backups and I did not pay attention to what we were doing.

It is a sweet stick. That's why I'm going to have one very similar to it soon.
