Im not sure if someone told me this or I made it up in my head, but if you have a carry permit and are buying a new gun do you just show your permit and pay your money and walk out with the gun, or do they still do the background check?

Actually you're somewhat limited to 5 guns in 7 days... after which time "more paperwork" is involved. Or at least this is what I was told by an employee at On Target earlier this month when we were buying my XD45C after having bought several other guns from them in the previous two weeks.

She said that as long as I hadn't bought more than 5 in the past 7 days, it was smooth sailing. Maybe someone else can elaborate on this.

I noticed Texas is on there, but Texas issues firearms to kids at birth. :D

I am a native Texan and actually you are incorrect. We are born with one in our hand.

You are limited to 3 guns a day and you can have up to 3 on 1 background check and the cost is only 10 dollars. If you buy a gun at 10 am it's 10 dollars. If you buy another gun at 5 pm it's 10 dollars. If you buy 3 guns at 10 am it's only 10 dollars. It's per check not per gun. There is also no extra government paperwork involved for several purchases, it's simply 3 a day period.

When I purchased my Pat3at, I was charged the required $10.00 then the gun shop made a phone call to the state. Gave the person on the other end my permit info, and that was that. Call was less than 5 min. Paid for the gun and walked out the door. Not quite sure but I may have filled out a short form, old memory a little fuzzy.
