Keep it or sell/trade?

I have a Mosin Nagant M91 rifle and I’m torn on what to do with it. I received it as a gift years ago and haven’t touched it since. My first thought was to buy a new stock, scope mount, and scope with hopes of turning it into a cheap hunting rifle. I can see myself spending more in parts than what the rifle is worth. Another problem is I’m left handed and a right handed bolt gun is no fun. I also worry that I might be ruining a collector’s item in some one’s eyes by modifying it. I have no sentimental value in this rifle so I’m not opposed to selling or trading however from what I understand they aren’t worth much.

Thoughts?

It is indeed a Finnish M91. I think I'll be selling or trading it. I just don't see myself using this thing as is.

If you don't have any intention of using it sell it. I wouldn't put any money in it. There are people who like them just as they are and you could buy something nicer and what you want with a bit of extra cash after you sell it.

I am also left handed but have always shot bolts right handed. I just got used to it because I can always shoot someone else's rifle in a pinch, or usually so. The only crappy part is some of my favorite rifles are not to be found in left handed models and because they have a high cheek piece on the left side of the stock I can't shoot them left handed. Oh well.

I find it is not much of a distraction except under one circumstance and its the most important. It is downright dangerous in hunting dangerous game.

I just shot my bastardized/sporterized mosin yesterday at ORSA and for $.20 a round its pretty hard to beat for that kind of boom. If you do keep that one eventually it will go up in value....remember when Swiss K31's were only $100?
