Wow, I would hate to see them go out of business. . . but, it wouldn't make me very upset to see my Saiga become a collector's item. :D

I don't know how their other items are fairing, but I have a hard time believing they aren't making cash off of their exports to the US market.

I'd imagine they are, but IIRC the civilian market is something like 20% of their overall business. Their primary output are rifles for Mother Russia's military and since there are no orders they have actually shut down that portion of their production lines.

According to the article it's a reorganization form of bankruptcy just like GM and Chrysler.

Is that supposed to inspire confidence? Personally I think the reorganization of Government Motors is just delaying the inevitable. As far as Chrysler, when was the last time you saw a Fiat?

Lolz, that's a (slightly) better example. I honestly don't see the Russian gov't letting Izhmash disappear, but it may come fully under gov't control so the civilian division may disappear. But to be honest I just found the story interesting. Don't have a lot emotionally invested in it though a Saiga 12 has been on my short list for a hot minute.

They just released the Saiga in 5.45, so I have a hard time seeing them going away. Also, Arsenal is using Saiga's as the base for their AK's now. With Arsenal pushing the line I think the civi market will last....... I hope.

Maybe the U.S. Government should give them a bailout, then we the people would own them!:P

:D

It IS the "People's Rifle", right?
