And paid about 40-50 bucks

Im thinking of going a good solid route with the 5.11 tactical chest rig w/ pouches, but wanting some input..

I beleave from what ive read i can hold 8 AR mags and 4 Glock mags in this set up for about 55 on sale right now

and of course there 2 Double stacked AR mag pouches and 1 double pistol mag..

Input? Different Choices? Not wanting to dump TOO much in this rig.. just kinda a SHTF/Outdoor shooting rig

I'm not actually running it, but I have an older "Vest, Load Bearing, Enhanced", with two M16 mag pockets (four mags, I think) and two pistol pockets (again, I think four), with two grenade pouches. I just bought it because it was $1.

CAmelbak vest with assorted pouches and other gear/crap/moral patches on it.

DSCN1704.jpg

Basic load (6 mags for the AR+1 in the mag well) for the rifle 3 more mags for the pistol, Phantom Warrior Flash 44 NVG compatible light, IFAK, Lensatic COmpass, Gerber tool, Surefire 6P, ASEK Knife with strap cutter, tourniquet and a pair of earplugs. Ohh and 100 oz of H2O with a sippy straw. :( Is it more than I need? Yea. But better to have and not need than to need and not have.

If you are talking about this one

Then it holds 6 mags and 2 grenades. There are 4 mag pockest but each of the lower ones hold 2 mag each.

FWDFTW I got one in the garage that looks like new. Make me an offer.

That would be it.

The grenade pockets hold 2 15-round M1 Carbine mags each PERFECTLY. The other mag pockets are too deep for anything I own at the moment.

I scored it at a micro flea market, just a conglomeration of yard sales. The same guy comes through a lot, and he has a lot of surplus. I haven't seen him lately, though. I also bought a great big duffel bag for cheap, too.

How do you like that Camelbak vest? I almost picked one up when I was doing search and rescue stuff, but didn't because of the price. And is that the foliage green one with ACU accessories or is it an ACU version?

I like it. NOt only is it adjustable in girth but also in height. I can adjust it quickly to fit over my IBA if I have to get into full battle rattle. This one is Foilage Green with ACU pockets. It also has a couple of inside pockets for paperwork.

Ive seen those Tactical tailor ones there nice like expensive for me thou

i really like it but ive been thinking about down sizing the whole rig a bit. might go with an ATS chest rig. back when i was going overseas it made sense to carry alot of stuff. now id like to carry half as much.

the ATS rig carried 4 mags side by side so it doesnt hang out too far. you can add pistol pouches and such to its molle exterior. most of the other stuff goes into a pack now.
