Question regarding dies!

Kind of new to reloading, I was interested in a new set of dies (new used),

I have seen a lot of three die pistol sets lately with the normal decapping die, the normal bullet seating die, but with the guts removed from the third die, the one that normally puts the bell on the case. What is the reason for having no guts in the third die?? Thanks for any help.:)

Decapping die,

Seating die,

Expansion die.

It should expand the neck of the case.

I expand the neck so that about 1/16" of the bullit sits in the case.

Expand to much, you start losing cases to cracking.

Mine, when set in press has about 3/32" of thread showing.

When turning this die over and over, it should rattle.

No guts in expansion die?

Only thing it's good for is putting powder in cases.

I don't use it for that.
