i have been researching some of these places online but wanted to get some input from experienced patrons if possible.

i am looking for a friday through sunday type of thing to surprise my wife. she has been wanting to get away for awhile and i figured id get a weekend paid for when i get my bonus check in december. might be a good trip for either her birthday in february or our anniversary in may.

she does like to go trail riding on horseback. we have recently sold our horses so maybe a mountain trail ride would be good? also would like to stay in a nice place with decent rooms and dining to take advantage of the us time.

it is also necessary to have her dog come with us as hes a service animal and she wont leave home without him.

i have been looking specifically at the dancing bear lodge. any experience?

Never been to the dancing bear lodge but we have rented from Chalet Village a couple of times and enjoyed our stay very much. Their web site is pretty good, I think you can click on the "pet friendly" tab and it will show what chalets are available that allow pets..as for the riding stables there are three that I can think of. Five Oaks in Pigeon Forge, Davy Crockett in Townsend and the one in Cades Cove which would be your best bet as far as getting away from the tourist stuff and having a chance at seeing some wildlife. Good luck and have a great time

We stayed at the Park Vista with our Husky, and they loved him. The place is definitely dog friendly. Nice place too. Great vies, exterior is a little dated, but the lobby is beautiful and the rooms are pretty nice.

As far as a place to stay, Call Alpine Mountain Chalets. 865-908-4774. They allow pets for an extra $50. And if you call and haggle you can get a good price cause they are a little mom and pop place, but they have very nice cabins. You can see them at alpinemountainchalets.com. Not a whole lot of places will allow the pets and thats one of em i know of.

If you give me a couple of days I wil check and see if I have any "coupons" left for a three day two night stay for $99 here: Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort - Indoor Water Park Resorts - Family Resorts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee TN

We own a time share with them and it is very nice, they allow animals but it is an $80 charge for it. If you are interested let me know. You can send me a pm if you like.

The only catch is you will have to hear the sales pitch, but if you don't want to buy just tell them NO....
