Germantown Gun Show Sept 19-20

I'll be the first to say . Showed up around 0930. Everything is still way overpriced even compared to pre election standards. There were many Garands from $1000 to over $1500, 1 Polytech M-14 for $999 and no Mosin Nagants for under $115 (even used).

I went mainly looking for a M44 MN or an AR15 upper. (only 3 uppers in the whole place) I did get some dessicant 5/$20 and a M7/M8A1 bayo/scabbard for $27 that I'll be reparkerizing. Was it worth the hour drive? Maybe if mobile.Gunbroker.com and the internet didn't exist. Unless the dealers ACTUALLY WANT you to talk them down.

A few gems that stood out was the $199 Colt M-16 BCG (Bolt was stamped but the carrier staking was early CCMG/DPMS at best, the $1799 Daniel Defense/Omega rail carbine and the 10 MN stripper clips for $25. :screwy:

I'm sure somebody else had a better experience today....

I rarely go to gun shows but I went to this one today. It's just down the road from me and I didn't have anything better to do this morning. I was thinking the same thing on the Mosins, and I didn't see an SKS for less than $350. I did see an AR of some kind for 800 or 850. That was one potentially decent deal that stood out. Lots of ammo. Let's see...there was a converted Saiga .308 for about $900...pfft. Wazzers were around 600...next. If I was going to go there for a firearm I'd be spending my time at the private sale tables. I did buy a "tactical sling" that I've been trying to figure out how to use for the last hour. I almost bought some of that dessicant for my safe. I've just been using cedar blocks; is that ok in a gun safe?

I think the show was pretty good. A few new vendors and it was packed. I am going to go back Sunday. The agricenter seems to be a lot better than the pipkin building. I did not see many bargains but the parachute flares for $7 seemed to be pretty cool. They had a great domain name ... http://www.weblow****uplegally.com/

I went early Sat morning. My biggest complaint with the show at the Agricenter is that parking is a pain and the room isn't big enough for all of the tables. As soon as it got a little crowded you couldn't even walk down some of the aisles. I did buy 1 box of ammo at a decent price, but I saw bulk packs of 22 ammo priced 50% higher than Wal-Mart! I actually did buy a pistol that I've been looking for, it was only about 10-15 bucks higher than it should have been, but since nobody locally has had one in over 6 months I bought it anyway. And they did have several new vendors I haven't seen before. All in all, it wasn't great, but it was better than the last few I've attended.

Definitely better than in the past.

By the way. To the OP, I was looking for an AR upper and tried to talk the guy down on the bushmaster a3 he had. He had 599 on it and wouldnt take less than 580. I walked over to the table one aisle over and talked that guy down to 650 on a complete bushmaster ar15. I didnt want, need or have enough to buy the complete rifle but I wanted to see what the difference would be. It was ridiculous. That is why I hate gun shows in Memphis.
