This is hilarious, I had to post it. So, This kid I know decides he is going to try to be a big boy and get a tattoo. In his attempt to show his hatred for racism, he got a swastika with a slash through it. The only problem is the slash is the same color as the swastika, black. So from a distance it just looks like a big swastika.

You're right! What on earth was he thinking to get such a monstrous thing put on his arm? I wonder -- is it a temporary or the real thing?

Posted

No it is quite real and quite permanent. He loves the thing, he doesnt think there is anything wrong with it. I mean he is an 18 year old kid, but damn, have some common sense.

That is an epic fail in my book. Not very well thought out.

Being 18, he probably won't realize what a mistake he made until the first black guy shoots him for walking around with a swastika on his arm. No one is going to notice that "slash".

Isn't the slash also going in the wrong direction? EPIC FAIL, or he's full of :stick:

Holy sh*t you are right, it is going the wrong way. I didn't even notice that.

I don't think the slash is going the wrong way. Almost all signs I see are left to right. It hardly matters either way. Even if the slash were reversed, it would look the same.

You are right, I had a hard time seeing the slash.

All I know is he is going to end up getting his butt kicked or shot. When he gets around the wrong group of guys they arent going to stand around and wait for him to explain what the tattoo is supposed to mean.

"No, I'm tellin' you there's a slas-"

He could very well find himself in a situation where he's praying that he ONLY gets punched. Not punched with holes from a .45.

I agree

But he could be getting punched from both sides.

One side because it looks like a swastika.

The other side because it has a slash through it.

Double Fail.

Ok, I know Ive been in a hole and for the most part not in the know, but when did a swastika mean you hate blacks? I know in the beginning it meant you were a German Nazi and that meant you wanted to kill all Jews. When did the blacks get grouped in there too? Did the KKK use that symbol also?

BTW, all he had to do was make the slash red, and he would be good to go. IMO

But, he still gets the EPIC FAIL award of the day.

I'm surprised the tattoo artist didn't point out the piss poor design to him.

I bet he's going to feel awesome when he finally gets a grip and ends up with a giant black sun on his arm.

Actually, in the beginning it was a Christian symbol, the broken cross, it didn't get associated negatively until it was adopted by Hitler.

It became associated with hating blacks when it continued to be used in a America by Neo-Nazi and white supremacy organizations. Not specifically targeting blacks, but certainly included in the mix.

uh, no. It was used by many pagan cultures in for various religious and design purposes but never by Christians as a Christian symbol.

In September 2007 the United States Navy announced it would spend $600,000 to "camouflage" a barracks at the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado near San Diego, so that it would no longer resemble a swastika from the air.

I stand corrected.
