Kettle Bell Workout/Training

Recommended Posts

Posted

Anyone have experience training with kettle bells? I have been reading about the training in several places on the internet. Just want some more opinions and examples of training schedules that have worked for folks. If anyone has a kettle bell gathering dust, I would be interested in buying. Looking for something different to change up my workouts a bit.

I've used them a little bit, but not extensively.

If you try them out and decide you like them, I'd consider picking up a PowerBell, as buying a full set can get expensive pretty quick.

I cycle my workouts with KBs and I'm not using mine right now.

I'll loan you one just to see if you like before you buy.

Also, Dick's has full sized KBs.

Kettlebell Pistol (One-legged Squat)

Hold a kettlebell close to your chest like a steering wheel. Hold the non-working leg up and squat all the way down with the working leg. Pause at the bottom for a second and then stand up. Pull yourself down slowly with your hamstrings and contract your abs, glutes, and quads for maximum tension and stability. Click here for more info on Pistols.

Ever look into Crossfit? They use kettle's quite a bit as well as other Olympic and gymnast type lifts and activities.

I use kettlebells and like them. You can buy several different weights at Walmart.

Thanks for the offer, I may take you up on that. What kind of weight did you start out with?

Definitely a little pricey, but it beats buying a full set. Also, if you consider space a premium in your home gym, it pays. I wish I had bought some of those selectech dumb bells when I started buying them.

Although my initial investment would have been more (compared to buying as I went, like I did), I would have saved cash in the end.

The standard 1 Pood KB (36lbs).

I vary my workouts, adjusting volume and intensity, and never felt the need to go heavier.
