Woogies? Dont know that one, however that was Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron-8 onboard the USS CARL VINSON CVN 70

Polliwogs = those who have not sailed across the equator.

Shellbacks = those who have.

There's a big initiation.

Didn't get the opportunity myself.

In my 20 years in, I never heard WOGS called Woogies. Different time, I guess. I earned my Shellback card in 87 onboard the USS RANGER CV-61. What passes as WOG initiation now, isnt. I stopped playing when on my 94 deployement onboard the USS CROMMELIN FFG-37, the initiation was the WOGS held a Steel Beack for the Shellbacks. And yes they got thier cards and cert's. Lame.... LOL

That definitely doesn't fit the stories I've heard of initiations either. Pretty lame. I did boot in 88 and was on USS Nassau 89-91.

I never saw anyone make any videos in my time on the ship. Then again I spent all my time below the 2nd deck. I guess I should have gone Air Dale instead, then I might have had time on deployment to do **** like that instead of working for a living.

I never got the chance to get my card. I was east coast the whole time on the CVN 73 USS George Washington. I heard that it was all watered down by the time I came through anyway compared to what it used to be.

Well crap, sorry about that. You had the spelling right, I on the other hand may not be able to read. LOL

You copy the URL of the youtube video (not the embed link) and then insert that using the [link] button in the post options at the top of the post box. I hope that made some sort of sense.
