Looking to interview two people for a duck hunting lease in west TN.

I am looking to interview people for two slots for a lease that I am in on. This is for a 70acre flooded field that will have about 1/2 acre of standing corn and they are going to leave the stubble on the rest that has corn. This field is located between Horns Bluff and Frog Jump Refuges. They did split the field up some with beans but where most of the water is held there will be corn. There is a floating blind that can shoot 8 but I only hunt 4 people and I am very picky about who hunts with me this is why I am looking to replace two that have shown their true colors.

I can not tell you how strict I am on hunting, I do not sky bust, I do not hunt every day of the week I limit the hunting to 3 days a week, I love to get in on a good shoot every now and then but if you want to kill them you gotta let them get there first. Plane and simply if I do agree to lease you a spot with me and you screw up you will be kicked out with out a refund, if you are found to be trespassing after being kicked out you will be prosecuted for trespassing. I also will not tolerate any alcohol consumption or drug abuse. To me duck hunting is not about the killing but being around a good group of friends and watching God's work.

We do have a good time and cook every day, my one friend who I have hunted with for several years has a good dog with a very laid back attitude and he does not run round in the blind. I personally have about 15dozen duck/goose decoys, 5 mojo's, a vortex, and a mallard machine. My buddy has about 8 dozen duck/goose decoys, a mallard machine, one mojo, and a few other gadgets.

This spot will kill ducks but last year we did not do all that great since we did not catch any water until Christmas. There is a guarantee for water in the lease agreement that will be paid back on a per day basis.

I have tried to cover everything that I can think of on this and I really did not want to just put this out there to someone who I do not know but I am willing to give anyone a chance as long as they can pass the interview and my buddy agrees to you.

Right now unless something changes it is looking like the cost per person is going to be 600 unless something happens and the yield is way less then the average they are getting now on corn.

You can either send me a PM on here or email me mike_laster @ Bellsouth . net and we can talk about this. I would rather have a father and son, either way you must be responsible and safe above all else. I am in a long term lease with this farmer so I do enforce the rules to a T. I am not trying to make money off of this but make it even for everyone.

You can call me a nazi all you want but I do not get ran off of leases and I am not educating birds by taking crack shots that you can not make.

If this post was "out of line " I figure the mods would have deleted it by now.

I just figure I would give someone who actually cared about what hunting is about a chance at a pretty decent spot for fair price but I guess that was my mistake in even posting it up on this place since it seams it is full of "outlaws".

The lease cots me 2400 , the season is 60 days long out the 60 days I only hunt weekends+1 so that's three days a week, well that winds up being 20 days, so it costs 30 dollars a day where if you go on a guide hunt it winds up costing 150+ a person for a half day hunt. But then again if you were to hunt with me you would have to put up with someone who actually has rules and abides by the federal laws and regulations as well.

Yeah it is not too bad on anyone wanting to get in since I have spent all of the money on decoys already.

The only reason people can not find a place to hunt is because people do not give a crap anymore about other peoples land. This is why I am strict on who gets into a club with me and it does not take long to weed through the list in a hurry. I work hard to enjoy God's work and I actually care more about the future then how man ducks you can kill. It is amazing at how many people just can not think or just do not care..

I believe the OP leaves no doubt about what he is looking for and where he stands. As an old timer I've been around and hunted with some that I would not do so again. Nothing spoils a nice hunt than sharing it with someone who is completely out of step.

Good luck in your search, OP.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Its the interwebz. And it is your lease. Post it up down at your local co-op if you have one.

Thanks, I had not though about that.

Yeah I do not put much stock in the junk people say on the net but it just proves what some "people" think hunting is supposed to be. I'm sure the same people who think as they type are the same ones who hailed the wood duck poachers last year as king sportsmen.

Things are just crazy in general.

I saw a guy "cleaning" a dove with a 6" sheath knife this year. I was amazed. You want to talk about sky busting, don't get me cranked up. I'm pretty sure most "hunters" these days can't name 3 types of duck.

You're more likely to find an older guy with a few dollars in his pocket thats been on a few hunts at the co-op, imo. Although cattle farming around here is about gone. The farmers are still around. They are hard to get rid of.

Yeah it is scary out there these days and that is why I will not hunt public land.

We stopped farming about 8 years ago when we got taxed out of business. Big farmers are still rolling but small family farms are long gone. That is one reason I know what these farmers are going through, we have some neighbors who think just because there is land behind their house they can do what the want with it no matter who owns it. TWRA is useless on stopping poaching so I guess that is why people think the way they do. I just wish we had some bottom land instead of just dry land.

Oh well I guess I must be doing something right since I have farmers calling me every year wanting me to come back and lease their spots again.

Personally I like the way you are doing this. I have hunted with some wako's that I have left in the middle of the hunt because of things that they where doing. Hunting is a privelege and land is hard to come by. So I would continue to do things the way you are doing and just ignore what everyone else says. If I was able to hunt on weekends I would definately hit you up on this. I am glad to see that there are still people that like to be out there whether they are killing ducks or not!
