Some people are so stupid

And the bad part is they think they are so smart.

To elobrate, I was in a city (not gonna disclose which one) and stopped by a pawn shop (yes I know, first mistake).

While I was wandering around looking at his guns (which by the way were soem of the "hard to find" items) he asked me what I was carrying" a 1911?) no I told him, it's a beretta 96D. OMG he starts in on he wouldn't carry a Beretta, he was almost killed because he carried a 92fs with out the saftey engaged and someone tried to rob him and he grabbed his gun and flicked the safety on instead of off. Said he would only carry a glock  from now on since it has no safety. I told him that's why I would not carry a gun with a safety on it.

He then proceeded to tell my my 96D (you know DAO) has a safety:eek:. I told him no it's DAO and showed it to him.

He then proceeds to tell me that I need to be careful with a beretta, a bad guy can jack the slide right off of it and render it useless.:screwy:. Ok so if I let a bad guy get close enough to me to touch my gun he might be able to (with a fair amount of practice and training) disable my gun? He then tried to sell me an "upgrade" that prevents this from happening.:):censored:

I simply told him that if I feel threatened (as in real fear of my life) if the BG make it to me and gets my gun it's only because it's empty. He can jack the slide all he wants then since I'll be hammering at him with my LCP.

Sorry for the rant but this :poop:head really pissed me off.

Now he did have a very nice blued Colt King Cobra, I'd rate it at about 99% or better. Forget the price but it seemed it was less than 7 bills.

Snatch the slide off of your gun!?

I like Glocks myself, but honestly, if a criminal was ninja enough to snatch a slide off of a weapon pointed at him, I would think it would be EASIER to preform such a ridiculously unrealistic ninja-esque task on a Glock than a Beretta 92 or 96.

you have to pull the trigger on a glock to take the slide off wouldnt that force him to shoot himself unless it was out of ammo, then he can have it cause like was said id be shooting my back up.

I'm aware.

If this ninja criminal had the speed to strip a Beretta, he should easily be able to drop the mag, rack the slide, and depress the trigger in order to remove the slide.

Again, I can't reiterate enough how ridiculous this scenario is, and I'm playing with absolute hypotheticals.

I've got a 92 FS (nice) and I just don't see it happening.

But I can pretend it is possible. I guess I'd just have to brutally beat him with the rest of the 92. I mean if he had a knife or gun he already would have stabbed or shot me.

On the other hand if he's holding a jar of Hoppes maybe he just wants to clean the 92....

On the 92 FS or M9 it can be done. It takes a quick hand, and a near perfect grab at the take down button and lever. However, no matter how fast ninja is, you have time to fire, fire, and fire some more. So in other words, reality is that this is a movie trick. Aint going to happen in real life.

I've seen this done under extremely controlled conditions. :tough:

Anyway, pawn shop ninja was a moron.

Somebody's been watching to many Jet Li movies.

Yep, did it to Mel Gibsons 92 in Lethal Weapon 4. Sad thing is I came home after the movie and tried it on my 96 centurion to see if it were possible. In all honesty if someone trained enough and I'm talking major commitment, I think it could be done. A pawnshop owner warning you about carrying a Beretta because of this is pretty silly though. If your bad guy has sufficent training in the martial arts to pull this off, you would never have the chance to pull your firearm in the first place. Just my opinion

Not to mention they would probably be a little higher on criminal "food chain" than a run of the mill mugger :tough:
