rifle deal

Dick's sporting good has a deal on 26" (i think its 26") ADL style remington rifles heavy barrel profile, .308 and .223 for $459 + tax and tics, I think it is. I'm not wild about the stock (a kinda plastic looking brown camo job), but they should shoot. The murfreesboro locationoff medical center has 2 of each on the shelf.

I didn't buy one, but they are spitting images of my sendero if you look past the stock.

Other prices might look even better after hunting season, as far as that goes.

Well, I just couldn't resist a heavy barreled .308 remington rifle at roughly $508 OTD with the mail in rebates. Comes with a cheap 4-12 optic (looks like a simmons, but I wouldn't swear to it) and aluminum bases...good enough for your .22 probably. I believe the twist rate is 1 in 12 but don't quote me.

This one does not have a floorplate. If you don't know remington 700's, most of the varmint rifles have a hinged floorplate so you can get the rounds that are in the mag out without cycling the action. This one does not have that. Thats the only difference from this model to the 700 SPS varmint that I can tell. That and this one has the mossy oak stock...but side by side, the dimensions and raised handgrips are very similar.

Box says:

MODEL 700 ADL Varmint

26" barrel .308 win w/ packed scope

Beavertail Stock - MO BRUSH

I'd guess with handloads it should stick 5 shots well under a 1/2" at 100 yards, if I got a decent one.

Terry’s is probably underwater. :squint:

Man, I would be tempted to snatch up that .223 if I thought I could transfer my scope back and forth.

I'm sorely tempted to go back and get one in .223. But I'm out of budget.

According to the sales drone at dick's, they also come in .22-250. I've called 7 or 8 dick's looking for one but no dice. Walmart had a few of them on the shelf about 6 months ago for about this price, but they only lasted about 2 days.
