My New (to me) FNH FNP-45 USG

I just picked this up used from a guy I work with. It has been on my list of guns for awhile and thought I would grab it while I had the opportunity. Stated round count is 30; there were two owners so it could be a bit more, but not a lot.

It is the USG double action/single action model with a safety, so it can be carried in either double action mode for the first shot, single thereafter, or can be carried "cocked and locked" for single action only. It came packaged with 3 magazines : one 15 round and two 14 round with the 15 round having a bit of an extension on the bottom. I am not sure I am in love with the OD green color, but can't really pick colors when you happen along on a decent deal. I also got a Don Hume belt slide holster and 100 rounds of target ammo in the deal.

It has a 4.5 inch barrel and comes with 2 interchangeable backstraps. I think I am going to like the white 3 dot sights; seems really easy to see. It is really about the same size as the XDM-9. Definitely not a small gun but but having that many 45 rounds in a handgun is pretty impressive.

I will post a range report when I get a chance to take it for a drive. Am going to try to make it to the Guns and Leather shoot this month if anyone wants to shoot it.

Have a couple of cell phone pics; may try to post some better ones later.

You will love the pistol. Shoots great and is pretty accurate for a service grade pistol. First time I shot it was a norris range with the guys and was disappointed with the 6-8" groups I was getting, then the guys reminded me that was the 50 yrd target I was shooting. I have at least 500 rounds through it so far with out one issue. It has eaten WWB, UMC, Speer Lawman and Golden Sabre so far.

Dang it Bill !!!

You just caused me to spend some more money !!!!! :D

That's a SWEET pistol for sure. I've been pondering what I want for my next carry piece ... I'm going to the gun store Monday and make the purchase.

Now I'll have to find a place to hide mine so the wife doesn't find it... :P

Did you pick one up?

I just got back from the Guns and Leather TGO Shoot and got a chance to try out a few rounds. Was quite accurate; the lack of perceived recoil is really what surprised me.

Somehow I ended up at the range with only one magazine for the gun. The pistol worked flawlessly shooting, but I think the mag that I was using needed a bit of attention. When loading it seemed the spring was binding up or the follower was hanging up somewhat....maybe this magazine had never been used yet and was just stiff? I guess I will take the mags apart, put a bit of oil on them and see if that cures it.....like I said though it was only one magazine out of 3....but I didn't have the others to check them out...back to the range again I guess.

Yeah next time you can take it for a spin, too. I didn't know you had a new DW until Jeff told me (was after you left). Maybe we can get together in between G and L shoots at On Target or something....I gotta run a few more this FNP before I trust it completely, but so far so good.
